Not true, if you have a TV that is smaller than a certain size, 4:3 has more accurate notelane widths.

This. My friend has a ~32 inch TV and on Arcade the widths are too smooshed and it's hard to play.

Personally, I never found setting the movie to 4:3 helpful, since it seems to crop off the sides regardless of playing on Arcade or Original frame settings.

It's helpful at making the video not squished on a 4:3 TV :/

i use 4:3 because my tv stretches out the game instead of making it all clear like the crt monitors. While i was playing B4U i noticed at the end that when i have it at 4:3 it cuts off the B in the B4U (bemani for you mix) and the mix) part but when i put it at 16:9 it shows it all (this is on the original frame with the tv setting at 4:3 and the movie at 16:9. So are all styles 10th through empress like that for the movie settings? its really tough searching video for video for cut offs and testing it back and forth back and forth

So Empress came today after ages.
The manual was ruined for some reason And the cover has a teeny crease.

On a more related note, fully unlocked 3rd-8th style Archives pictures. Good lord, it takes a LONG time.

Whenever I open/close mine, the manual gets stuck against the inside of the case because of the 2nd-disc thing, and it leaves nasty crease marks all over it. I turned it around so the stapled side was facing in and it's fine now.

I noticed it when they started having the setting in 8th Style. Back then I played on a standard TV and set the video to 4:3, and the TRIBAL MASTER video's read RIBAL MASTE. I kept the settings on 16:9 ever since.

Fuck yes Tribal Master

But yeah that's weird, I've never had any issues with aspect ratio.

do you still play on that standard tv or do you play on an hdtv? I play on an lcd one so thats why im wondering. Im thinking about keeping it 16:9 now that you mention it because like trip said earlier 4:3 just makes it look bigger or in my case "fatter" but uhh yeah i might keep it 16:9

I played on a standard TV back then, but I now play on a Sony WEGA crt I bought years back inbetween the releases of 8th Style and 9th Style. It's still an old-style TV, but it has an 16:9 setting which is great for IIDX.

I have a samsung Ln32b360 -> 32" high-definition LCD TV LN32B360 - LCD TV - TV | SAMSUNG

i set the picture aspect to 4:3 since 16:9 is too hard to play on because the note width is all squished and it makes the game all stretched out. So would you suggest the videos stay on 16:9 even though i play on 4:3?

Umm, on a 16:9 TV, 16:9 mode is identical to the arcade. 4:3 mode is all streched out. You may prefer the size of 4:3's notelanes considering the size of your TV but it certainly isn't stretched

might be my tv or my settings then because when i compare the two 4:3 and 16:9 aspect while empress is running the difference i see in menus is just a wide stretch it makes things all stretched out and wider. for notelanes the frame looks good but the lanes are all squished together so its hard to play. but yeah thats why i play on 4:3 so it doesnt look all stretched out/pixelated and i can see the lanes perfectly
