Beatmania IIDX 5th mix console PS2 HDD question

In the console version of Beatmania IIDX 5th mix new songs collection,how did the PS2 HDD Driver work? I mean what megabyte or gigabyte file did it use to reduce loading times and what else did it do?

I'm unsure of how much space it used - but it allowed you to play "Endless Mode" - which basically had you play all the songs in one unending play.

I tried it myself - I could only get about halfway before I gave up. XD

it probably loads all the songs on there with their respective notecharts, and some sort of code to slow down the SPU so that the songs are on-sync. the easiest way to find out the largest file, is put it in your pc, and hover your mouse over the files until you get a large filesize. it's most likely a *.DAT file

So basically it's Survival mode but without breaks between songs?

This is not what "Endless Mode" does in 5th Style at all.

You want to see what it does?

Load up 6th Style. Go to Expert mode. Hold down Start while you select an Expert Course. Notice how the songs don't go to the results screen after each is finished, and you only see one total note breakdown at the end of the course. Here is your Endless Mode. Same exact thing as 5th Style except you need no HDD.

Can someone please put some correct information about 5th Style's HDD support in the FAQ because this thread comes up once a month and I have to re-explain this every fucking time.

I'll admit that the Endless Mode is an educated guess (havent played it in a while), but there is a mode in which all the songs cycle continuously when you have the game installed on the HDD.

EDIT: Checked with 5th style again. dog$ is correct - it is like survival mode.

There is a mode where the songs cycle continuously, but its been forever since Ive done it - guess I got the two confused...again. Probably hidden most likely - or a cheat edit. I'm not sure - it's been a while indeed.
