That's why it looks so good ^-^ Those screens are sexy.
The arcade mixes of IIDX run in 640x480, which is standard def.
I doubt they'd spend the extra money on making it an HDTV just to downscale it back to standard def.
Also, I believe the earlier mixes of IIDX ran on an LCD, but Konami switched to a CRT in an attempt to eliminate lag. I am not quite sure of this, so don't take my word for it.

And for the record, the "old" monitors that used to be used on IIDX machines were 40" widescreen. The new ones are smaller though.
