Default Which Beatmania IIDX game would best fit my taste in music?

I am looking to Import a Japanese copy of IIDX, but with 11 games out there...I have no idea which one to pick. I have been playing BeatMania US for the past three to four months, and have moved up to level 7 songs. After playing the same 35 songs...over...and over...and over...it is becoming stale, and I need something new to keep myself occupied.

Anyways, my favorite songs on BeatMania US are mostly the House and Disco tracks. I like songs that have you using the turntable a fair ammount of time to the song. Most of my favorite tracks are by Good-Cool and Y&CO. I like the Drum'n'Bass songs as well, but not as much.

My Most Overplayed Songs:

- HitchHiker
- Spin the Disc
- Battle Freaks (I always thought it was Breaks, but I must be dislexic or something. Even though 80% of the song sucks, the last few measures of the song are fun to play)
- Summer Vacation
- Mobo*Moga
- LOVE IS DREAMINESS
- jelly kiss
- I Was The One
- OverBlast!!

Is there any style you'd suggest I'd like best? I was thinking of Importing IIDX RED, but just because it is new doesn't mean it is the best or I will like it the most.

Thanks for the suggestions!

By the way, which style of IIDX has Era -GC Phat Mix-? I have that song on StepMania and I love it.

6th or 7th would probably be good for you.

Also, Era GC Phat Mix is a fanmix; it's not in any Bemani game.

What you should want are the Styles that don't have the songs you've listed, so that you have the widest variety and don't have two discs of the songs that you play to death.

Based on that; 4th, or 9th and up would be good first bets. You'll know where to go once you start.

Oh, I have another question. Is there any way to have two difficulty levels for two players? As in...Player 1=Standard Player 2=Beginner

We had some problems the other night cause I'd want to play on standard/expert while the other wanted beginner.

It made me feel like I was playing on a DDR 2nd Mix machine and having to compromise on difficulty settings.

I'm 99% sure Era G-C Phat Mix is actually a legitimate remix by good-cool, but it still wasn't ever in a Bemani game - I found the full version on a japanese site, along with something called Era G-C Cafe Mix, which is a jazz song that barely resembles era aside from the opening bars, definitely sounds like good-cool though.

6th style is hit or miss for most people but you would like it. The songlist isnt as big as anything from 7th-11th but you wont care considering how your used to beatmania US.

I don't know too much about the IIDX series, but from your list of songs IIDX RED would definitely not be the best idea. I have very similar musical tastes and though I do enjoy RED I felt like there was something lacking. I looked through the songlist, and sure enough there was no good-cool whatsoever other than Move Me, which I'm honestly not too fond of.

To be honest, there really aren't any house or disco tracks on IIDX RED (anyone feel free to correct me), which somewhat disappointed me and I'm sure would disappoint you, too.

But then again, I'm somewhat picky with my music (I'm somewhat frustrated that 19, November is in all of one CS release).

I don't know if this needs to be said or not... But I'm gonna say it anyway just in case...

If you think you will be able to play an import game on an unmodded American PS2, think again.

It would suck to spend 70 bucks on a game to find out that it won't play in your system.

6th style is probably my favorite of 3rd-8th. 9th style has some cool songs... 10th style didn't do much for me... and RED is, what I feel is the best home edition of IIDX so far. 6th style is definitely a good one though. I don't understand how some people think it has bad timing or whatever... I also don't understand how anyone could dislike 6th as apposed to something like 3rd or 4th with loads of problems with the songs. :/ But those people exist.

Yeah, I know. I am getting a modchip and swapdisc from PS2fliptop.com.

I'll like any Beatmania game, I am just wondering which one I'd enjoy best.

Based on your preferences, I would go for 7th or 9th. Well, actually, 7th since 9th has a bunch of asshole endings that destroy your life bar and make you want to cry. So yeah, 7th is the way to go.

7th's song selection definitely sounds like it'd match your musical taste best... But it's definitely not the best of the console styles... It's a tough decision...

You're going to feel funny playing on 7th for a while, because you'll be used to the BMUS "9th style+" style of higher quality in-game play... 6th style was my favorite, but 7th style was my favorite song list... I just didn't enjoy playing on 7th style or 8th style like I did with 6th, 9th, or RED... Meh.. Though, judging by songs, 7th is definitely your best bet, in my opinion.
