Beatmania PAL

Have seen a PAL version of beatmania. Was wondering if this has the same songs as gotta mix 2 global mix or its a totally different mix. Don't wanna buy the Jap version only to find out its the same as the PAL version, which my friend is giving me this week. The controller is SH*t by the way. I am going to buy a jap ps2 so i can play the jap games am more leaning towards guitar freaks but as this is free am having it and see how it goes.

Basically is Pal beatmania a Jap mix if so which one. Cheers for your help as always.

pal beatmania is its own mix I think. It was beatmania for people who lived in the U.K., and this mix will NOT work a U.S. PSX/PS2 or a japanese one(s).

the game is not very rare actualy, you can find one for a few dollars on ebay everytime there is one on ebay, and the game is just plain shit.

The japanese mixes are fantastic however.

Also if you are going to get a japanese PS2, deffinitly get beatmania IIDX (go for DistorteD, its the newest game). Of course you can buy a japanese DJ controller, or you can get the U.S. bundle for $20 (supposing you live in the U.S.).

Many people shop at playasia, which is the first place you should shop foir anything just because no one really has any problems with them, and they take most types of payment, including paypal.

of course you could also mod your PS2, but it will Void your warranty, anf there is a chance you will break your video game console if you dont know what you are doing almost 100% of the time (I broke mine, so i bought a japanese PS2).

Yeah cheers. Its just that I live in the uk am going to buy a ps2 jap.
So beatmania pal has totally different songs than any jap game mix.I was under the impresstion that it was gottamix 2 as somebody told me. I'm confussed beatmania pal is a sh*t european game and the songs are not on any jap mix, is this correct.

The Euro release is not as bad as many people make out to be. It was the first Beatmania game I played so I have a particular liking of it, but it does have a few exclusive songs from people like Moloko, Les Rythym Digitales and a few others.
It is not hugely dissimilar to the Japanese release in terms of some of the songs, but considering it is pretty cheap and if you live in the UK, it is probably worth picking up!

Ive played with Beatmania PAL...and i have to say its worth a buy !

Songs are good...i like it more than our Beatmania US.

ya well my opinion does not matter, if you know the songs and you like them grab a copy.

I dont own the game, and the song list is... average...

But ya, you should be able to get the games, the japanese PS2 and a controller on the site I gave you. Or for the controller try to get a U.S. bundle on ebay, or ask for a controller on the marketplace on this website, there are always ( well at least there were a few recently) controllers being sold on here.

Cheers everyone for your posts. Found out that all the songs on the pal version are songs from various games and the exclusive songs are on gotta mix 2.
Am going to leave the uk version and buy the one you suggested, might even have a tinker on the first one, i guess it's dated but for £20 its not much and it's always good to see how games started off and improved.

also which game are you getting? DistorteD?

Also dont worry if you dont like the game at first, that learning curve is not easy, but once you get the hang of the game you really can stop.

Just saying, if you mean "first one" as in Beatmania 2nd mix for PS1, £20 is quite a lot to be paying for it! It's very common atm, ebay has a lot of them (EXAMPLE)

And yeah, I didn't mind the Euro one too much (the days I used to laugh at IIDX

) I just hated the controller that came with it!

If thats the first one they released for the playstation then yeah thats the one am talking about. And the distortD one also. Just wanna see the way it started and how it has progressed, going to buy the us contoller as have looked up on the internet and people say it dosen't suffer from sticky keys like the jap one.
Oh yeah cheers for the link thing £20 is way to much can get it for like £5 so cheers.
Been on this site and wikipedia and its the 2nd arcade mix, which they say is the first one to come out on playstation.
Going to order everything I need today (games, controller, ps2 Jap). Just have to wait then until it gets here.
Will let you all know how it goes and if I need help with anything.

Yeah my JP KOC has been sticking loads lately

. And yup, 2nd mix was the first console release. The first arcade Beatmania doesn't have many songs at all, and has a pretty scary character in it.

BM PAL really sucks anyways :3 You can really pick that title up for like 5 euro (the bundle lol) if you can still find it somewhere.

Oh btw, wasn't the AC version of BM in europe called BeatStage? :3
