The hell?! Yesterday I was thinking about this.. "What theme would the new beatmania have.." I was thinking about something girly. And there we have it!! 
I'm amazed, but I don't expect the music to be worse or anything. I just hope that the explosion-unlock won't be some exploding hearts.

I know that there will be guy players out there who may feel...............about this but I think that we should give this new "pink" theme a chance.
Who knows, it may turn out well in the end (especially with the girls).
As usual, I expect the usual onslaught of jun/TERRA and j-pop and trance to dominate this version.

Personally...looking at that banner for EMPRESS...I'm sure the frame at the music selection screen will either be white or silver. Probably silver + pink to represent jewelery.

Hmmm :/ Personally the theme looks too Otaku. For me I'm into the hardcore side of IIDX. If they were to please everyone they would keep the name just IIDX 16th like they did between 10th and 1st. I didn't mind Happy Sky as the counter to Happy Sky is Distorted so I felt like I could pick between the two. Gold and Troopers made sense and had a great mix but Empress to me is the line unless they released a 17th where it was all hardcore  Could you imagine playing a dark song on such a cute interface. I'm not looking forward to playing on a pink IIDX themed cabinet :/ But of course it's great to hear there will be another IIDX regardless of whether it's Otaku themed or not. Lets just hope they don't go crazy with the whole pink and cuteness ._. | |

Trust me, Japanese guys are a LOT more feminine than you'd expect, in regards to the fact that they spend a ton of time on their hair, some wear makeup, their fashion, etc. Even I, after having been here for so long, am buying clothes that I would NEVER have expected myself to buy a couple years ago. Maybe they are into dark anime, maybe they are into cutesy/girly anime. I don't really see how this theme is "otaku."
IIDX is IIDX. A few Japanese players I know here have MENTIONED the fact that the theme is quite different from TROOPERS, but no one really seems to care. It has new songs, so.

I'd still be curious to know what the interface would look like...
Perhaps this purple/pink is just here for deception? If I recall correctly, back in the days when everything we knew about IIDX GOLD was its logo, some of us thought it was about to be RPGesque and medieval/fantastic and such... and none of this happened actually.
So... yeah. Maybe the themeing is made tp be more attractive to girls, but I don't expect the thing to be too "girly".

In the end, the styles have some songs that fit the theme, but there are just as many songs that don't. I am sure there will be a wide selection of 150 - 170 bpm hardcore and techno as before.
BTW this just seems to suit jun's tastes IMO. Here's hoping for Sunkiss Drop. | |
