Beatmania bundles often go for $30-40 from game stores nowadays. $50 is a bit much, but the game is getting rarer along with the US-style controller.

Scour your local EBGames or Gamestops if you have some time to spare, you may not be dissapointed. I was able to pick up a used BM controller for $8 at a Gamestop because they have no SKU for the Beatmania and so buy and sell it as a miscellaneous PS2 controller. It worked perfectly fine and was in good condition.

I then headed to an EBGames and was able to pick up the US bundle new for $30, getting me two controllers for doubles and a copy of the game.

No, but it does arrive very quickly. I got mine from Konami's site and it took like 2 days to get to my house with the cheapest shipping.

HAHAHAHA... yea, I remember feeling very lucky in '04 for getting a used one for $75.

50 for a controller AND (crappy) game? That would have been a blessing back then.

Before Beatmania US came out, IIDX controllers were expensive through the import stores. They were going for around $100. Why are you so puzzled at 2004, though?

Go to Radioshack and get one of their adapters. They work very well.

heh almost same. i think I paid 119 for mine when it first came out (I think it was in 2001). Man those things were expensive and I know the stupid store tacked on a good amount. The funniest part was it was before a decent modchip was ever out for the ps2 to let me play import games. So I sat on a IIDX controller and 3rd style for 2 years before finally being able to play it on my ps2... rediculous.

Then 2 years ago I went to japan and bought another one for $35.. jeez

Now I want a DJ dao Platinum, but that damn shipping cost is almost half of the controller!
