Marketplace Rating: 0 | Is BMUS Hard on Beginners? I only got beatmania because I was on gamestop one day and said I wonder what would come up if I typed in Beatmania (thinking it was a Japan only game). But anyway, I got it, but it's just so hard to me. Even the last part of training mode had difficulty. And even now, over a year after I bought it, I still can only do 2-star songs, I can't even pass V on beginner, it looks like an expert chart to me. Anyone else feels this way about BMUS?

And actually, it should be pretty easy to play BMUS >_>

Just keep playing enough, you'll be able to do most songs on Normal soon. Switch to 7key IIDX mode after you've passed and A'd every 5key song.

start on 7key.
don't play beginner if you can already pass some 2's on it, switch to Light7 (Normal) already.
once you can do decent songs on NORMAL (even only up to 4 or 5 stars or so), start overlapping and playing easier 7KEY (HYPER) songs.
this is the best way that i think works for me. you won't get better at hard songs without playing them. once you play the harder songs a bunch of times, even if you're not very successful, the easier charts should become much easier immediately after. especially when you're starting out, don't get stuck trying to pass all the 2's, go ahead and try some 3's. some 3's are easier than 2's, as some 4's are easier than 3's, some 12's easier than 10's, and then there's maude.
everyone progresses at a different rate blah blah...
some don't even need to work on timing very much compared to others, i never found timing to be all that difficult for this game. however, you may also want to...
learn to use towel. seriously, towel can be the difference between 400ex points when i play. this is once you get the hang of reading more note heavy charts later and try to get better at timing.
BMUS sucks.

However, light 7 gives you a better grasp of the game despite its very rude constructive criticism. Just take it all in and don't get down about it.

I suggest playing all the songs in Game Mode just once on Beginner--even if some of them are beyond your current level and you'll there fore fail--so that you unlock them in Free and Training Mode. From there, you can continuously practice without the 3-song limit.
turbo jjjang pretty much spelled out how to go about climbing the difficulty ladder, so definitely take his advice on that. Also, don't let failing discourage you from playing. True, the requirements for passing a song are stricter and less forgiving than in DDR, and yes, you do get penalized badly for missed notes. Accept those facts, and also accept that you'll be failing quite a few songs in your career.
With that in mind, rather than try to fulfill and epic goal, set a bunch of small, attainable goals. Since you have a console version of the game, you can certainly afford it. This is a good way to both challenge yourself to do better and not damage your morale. For example, if Mr.T is giving you problems, and you're failing with 40%, you might first set a goal of 50%, and try to reach that. Once you do, you'd perhaps make a goal of 60%. You might go about that until you pass the song, and then try to go for 100%. Once you do that, then you might start worrying about grade levels.
If a big problem for you is being overwhelmed or having difficulty reading bunches of notes, try using Hi-Speed settings. They space the notes out farther so you can better know when to press the keys.
Hope this helps. | |

Marketplace Rating: 0 | Yeah that's a lot of good advice. I'd play harder songs and even if I fail really bad, I'd play them over and over and over again, then I'd go back to the easier ones and do ok. Plus it may help when you come back to those hard songs later.
Yes, BMUS does suck. | |
