Marketplace Rating: 0 | BMUS Keep or Return? Ok, I have a little dilemma. Today I went to Toys R Us and saw the beatmania US bundle and since I really want to play I bought it. Cause I thought it was rare to find and been looking for it sometime.
But here's the catch my PS2 is broken(need's a new laser), plus I just spend my last $40 on the game, and I got a Wii for Christmas.
I got 45 days to return but should I return and get an import IIDX or keep it?
PS I never played beatmania before or any other bemani except DDR and a few times GuitarFreak

I say keep it for the sake of the controller, then get the JP games once your PS2 is fixed.

Marketplace Rating: 14 | For beginners, BMUS is for you, and for the price, many others and myself find the US controller much much better than the Japanese. Save up for imported IIDX in the future, just keep playing what you have now.

I guess I'll keep it. And Import and IIDX in the near future.
Now to find cheap fat PS2 laser.

Before applying: Every key got stuck, and sometimes they would be stuck in such a funky angle that it would respond without even being touched (it's times like those I wish I had a video camera.) STEP RIGHT UP FOLKS, AND BEHOLD THE MYSTERIOUS POSSESSED IIDX JP KOC.
After: same shitty key placements that always got stuck never even got jammed once after 12 hours of play.
On-topic: For a beginner, BMUS is a great choice. Even if you don't enjoy the game, the controller is pretty kick-ass, since as someone new, I do not think you would be hung up on scoring as much as clearing.

Marketplace Rating: 2 | good thing your keeping it. I bought tenth style, and a lefty DJ controller. Its was very hard to play, and I lost interest. then I bought the U.S. version, and its helped me get into the game and like it. You just need to move around the learning curve, and beatmania U.S. is actually a pretty good choice since it has beginners mode.

Alternately, stick with BMUS until you have enough money for a REAL CS style (I don't know what Konami was thinking when they produced that game but maybe they didn't want to make it look TOO kickass so they lowered it to the level of their DDR US releases to make it seem comparable. Ingenious!) but BMUS has Mr. T and Summer Vacation on a post-8th interface and that's pretty goddamn cool IMHO

That's what I got first, then I got some JP releases from dieKatze and it was one of the better investments I got.
