Smile Breaking into 11s, changing my finger position (a little)

Hi guys, first post so go easy on me

I'm looking for some tips from someone who plays with a similar finger position.

I'm trying to beat more 11s these days, I think I can play 2 or 3 of them on a good day, and from what I've read it seems like there are a lot of other people here that are in the same place as me. To give you an idea of where im at, I can beat AA [h] and Dirty of Loudness [h], barely.

anyway, I think the key (as I always hear) is to have a flexible playing style. I dont have any problems with my right hand:

4: r index
5: r thumb
6: r middle
7: r ring

and thats pretty solid for me, unless it gets too crazy and i have to hit 4 with my left index.

My problems are all with my left (scratching) hand. Its all good until I have to do a lot of scratching in one place, so like if there is 10 scratches in a row and a bunch of scales at the same time I get raped.

Here's what it looks like:

1: l ring
2: l middle
3: l index
pinky scratch

when I have to scratch and hit 1 and 2 at the same time, I use my thumb to hit 1, but that can get pretty messy.

So does anyone have any ideas of what changes I can make, so I can finally beat some more 11s? it seems like ive been playing 10s forever.

thanks doodz http://www.bemanistyle.com/forum/ima...lies/smile.gif

Well from my opinion your current playstyle seems to be quite good atm (that's just my opinion though, don't take it from me alone though hehe). I'm not sure as to what I can suggest.....

Perhaps though, since you've said that you use your left thumb on 1, maybe you could also use it for 3 as well. Since you've mentioned that you use your right thumb for 5, then you could also do the same for your left hand by using l thumb for 3 (sorta makes it symmetrical).

Anyways, that's a common suggestion anyways (you may choose to follow it or not as that is up to you)

Unless you're trying to beat 11* since 2 years, I wouldn't say it's a problem of playstyle here. Maybe it depends on your speed to move your fingers at the good moment, or your skills to read the notes AND the scratches.

I'm a bit at the same situation as yours as I feel frustrated when I have to play scratches. Imo my problem comes from the reading of both scratches and notes but I'm not sure, I'll have to play much more 11* to figure it out.
Therefore I think your playstyle is used by dj midori, one of the top CS players .

Try playing easier scratch songs on an asc if your not already. That might help your scratching assuming your using a koc.

Yup

In fact there are threads here in Bemanistyle that already give you an example. For instance, if you refer to the Easy 11's thread, you would know that there are a few 11s that are scratch-heavy yet are quite simplistic (for 11s). As obvious, an example would be Wonderful Bullfighter [a] (even if you random or nonrandom or whatever arrangement you use).

P.S.
Can't comment on Digitank System [a] though (as I don't have DJT PS2).

Digitank System is as simple as using mirror if you're playing on 1P side and remembering to use proper hi-speed/sudden+ for its 128 BPM.
