This is a total newb question, but are there timing differences between the different modes (Light 7, 7 Key, Another)? Obviously the songs are harder as you move up the modes (Another is mostly 8s and 9s, for example), but are they stricter as far as timing goes, too? I read through the FAQ and the IIDXicon, and couldn't find mention of this one way or another. Thanks in advance.

No, aside from a few exceptions (mostly from 3rd Style), timing is consistent between all modes.

Gambol and a lot of the 5 Key songs in BMUS are probably more relevant than 3rd Style nowadays.

I looked on the Wiki and found nothing on this, but does anyone know the right way to get OMES on Happy Sky? Is it 3 [a] and get an AA on an [a] rated 10+ (on hard of course)

I think I recall this being discusses on 6.0, someone said that happy sky's OMES is e-Amusement only

IIRC it's something like all three songs on Another with Hard, last one 10 or higher, all AA+, no Random.

Yeah, that's what I was saying when we were all thinking about it. Then we tried it and forgot to put hard on <_<

EDIT: Alright, well the AA 3 [a] and the last one at least a 10 didn't work, so I assume it might be that, but you need a e-amuse deal :<

The new FAQ needs Extra Stage and OMES requirements for each style (AC and CS, IMO).

I don't even know 7th CS's off hand. I don't think BMUS has one, and that's kinda notable.

What the topic creator was referring to, though, is the song-specific special extra stages that allow you to play the hidden Extra Stage song before the machine is fully unlocked. That is, playing Genocide on a non-unlocked RED machine, Scream Squad on a non-unlocked Happy Sky machine, etc. Those requirements vary by style, but here's a brief rundown:

* 7th (MAX 300): AAA a flashing 7* with HARD for your third stage.
* 8th (Sakura): AAA a flashing 7* on ANOTHER with HARD for your third stage.
* 9th (PARANOIA survivor MAX): AAA a flashing 7* on ANOTHER with HARD for your third stage.
* 10th (1st Samurai): AAA an 8* on ANOTHER with HARD for your third stage.
* RED (GENOCIDE): AA three songs on ANOTHER with HARD for your 1st, 2nd, and 3rd stages. Your 3rd stage song must be a 7* or higher.
* HAPPY SKY (Scream Squad): Same as RED, except that your three songs must be of increasing difficulty and the final song must be at least a 10*. You also cannot use Random.

This, of course, is AC info....

Haven't been able to find a link anywhere to all the changes in difficulties for the HS rating system. So....link please?

This one seems to work the best - as it links the CS songs to HS difficulty.

The one here at Beat Square gives a more in-depth view at the changes - and the adjustments to each song difficulty as well. Just make sure you pick HS or later - as, of course, anything before that didn't have the HS difficulties applied yet.
