I have finally broken through the 7 barrier - meaning that I am passing 7's with respectable scores (for me at least) - like A/B, including passing some flashing 7's and 8's on RED. It is almost as my hands are moving on instinct now, and the charts that I was just pecking at because the notes came so fast don't look so hard now.
That said, I have noticed on thing that is now very apparent - there is a HUGE range of difficulties in 7's. I played one song today (don't remember which one) and a 7 had the horrid V pattern... i.e. 1-7, 3-5, 1-7, 3-5 repeating at 160 BPM 8th note stuff, another crazy repeated 2 note patterns, etc. Mixed in to that are some 7's that are cake to me, and some with easy charts except the end.
Are there some 7's that would be easier to look at and some to avoid right now? I know that many 7's have been reclassified to 8/9 (the hope for tomorrow being one of them). Is there somewhere where I can see the current difficulty rating so I know which songs are way harder than a 7?
Case in point - case in point - can't stop falling in love (hyper) to night flight in Tokyo (hyper).

I usually attribute it to personal style really.

ALSO: Read Monster in a boxe's list. That's really helpful for clearing on older styles.

Just about every Happy Sky and later 8 that was on an earlier machine was rated 7. Just about every if not every RED rated 8 became a 9, and RED 8+ expanded into 10-12.
EDIT: But you are right that 1- 6 was left unchanged.

Oh, and Tomorrow Perfume should really be an 11 too. The ending is BRUTAL.

Total Tokens: 37,753.03 Donate Tokens | I'd take vjgyo's advice and try for the 7s on earlier styles. The later styles are what really push the rating to a new level, so try some off of, let's say 8th style and back. Also, looking at the list, try Don't Forget (another), REINCARNATION (another), and Skyscraper (another), those aren't too bad for level 7 anothers.
And, another case in point for difficulty of earlier styles vs. later styles:
Presto (another) from 3rd VS. four-leaf (another) from GOLD are both rated 8s?! Not even close in difficulty saying that four-leaf should be rated closer to a 9 in some parts.

Konami just misrated stuff across the board early on. A lot of 3's became 4-5's, many 5's became 7's or harder, and Gobble still continues to piss me off to this day!

Also, Presto being an 8* is some what of a mystery if you use random. Without random I guess it could pass for an entry level 8* though. Maybe.
