Default Does IIDX CS games have true widescreen?

I'm interested in playing IIDX at home but the squished look of old TV resolutions on these videos I see online for CS IIDXs look horrible. Is this just a limitation of still making games for PS2 or is there a setting no one seems to use for YouTube videos that I don't know about?

If there isn't a true widescreen option for CS IIDXs I guess I'll be waiting until they wise up and realize that widescreen televisions have been cheap for a long time and nearly everyone I know can play on one.

I really want IIDX at home to look exactly like it does at the arcade, same resolution, same framerate, same everything (except song list understandably). You know, like 99.99% of all other true arcade ports do.

You can change the aspect ratio of the videos in options. You can also change the main aspect ratio of the game there (arcade or original). I'd recommend playing on original with your tv set to 4:3, looks the best to me.

You can set the display mode to Arcade (the first choice under Display Settings in Options) rather than Original. But I found my scores were significantly lower when playing in Arcade mode, since the notes and the lane are a whole lot smaller. So, like NMD said, I recommend setting the TV to 4:3 and keeping the display as normal.

I can't understand why anyone would use Arcade Mode on a 4:3 TV... It looks terrible.

On the HDTVs at work, even 16:9 is not QUITE perfect, due to the fact that the PS2 seems to have small black bars on the side so that the picture does not fill the HDTV. And this is with component and the proper "stretch" settings on the TV (does not have black bars when accepting a Wii signal).

Regardless, the CS versions in arcade mode use the exact same graphics at the exact same resolution as the AC versions, so it's as perfect as you're ever gonna get.

That brings up a question. Are IIDX cabs equipped with a 16:10 monitor or a 16:9 monitor?

16:9 (extra letters because the message I have entered is too short)

Yes, IIDX has a widescreen option. I'm sorry you got outraged over nothing.

I play in 4:3 mode even on my widescreen HDTV though because the arcade format looks too weird and tiny unless you're sitting right in front of the screen like you do at the arcade.

Same here (again) - change your TV to display in 4:3 as well though or you'll be playing a stretched image.

I think they're implying that they do play 4:3 stretched...
