You will be fine for IIDX. Pop'n might be a bit harder for some of the extras, but a little trial and error never hurts.

Edit: Oh wait. Almost all of the songs are in Japanese on the scroll if I remember. Either way, no need to fret about this: unlike IIDX (and very like DDR), Pop'n has banners and song demos during song selection.

Popn is a little more difficult at first, as stated, but there are previews and such. I don't find either of these games as difficult to navigate/operate as GF/DM, but hey they're music games, they shouldn't be too hard once you get used to them.

I haven't played much Pop'n, but yeah, IIDX is probably 60+% in English,.

Hey.... real deal.... What do you mean by that? DJ Max and O2 (and Burst a fever) are just as real.... and harder in some cases.

By real deal he I think he means "not bullshit imposters." And there are BMS files that are much harder than any official song in IIDX, but what does that have to do with anything?

And to the OP: you will have no problem navigating the IIDX menus even without knowing any Japanese.

I don't know your experience with the game, but I would go with DistorteD for one because it's new and has the song bluemoon. For the other style, I'd either suggest Happy Sky or 10th for the song Garden.

Oh, and no, I don't think that would be funny.

You mean all those 10000 note charts that not even the autoplay can do? Hell, anyone can make something like that and say its harder than IIDX.

Well ok, I suppose that's true.

And yeah I do think IIDX did come out before them. But O2 and DJ max still have good things. IIDX does look better though as it's been around longer.

I know. There is a new one that came out around last year that I JUST figured out how to play. Burst A Fever looks VERY nice and has some pretty good songs on it. It has promise...

On topic:

I have 9th, 10th, 11th, 12th, and 13th and out of those, 10th and 13th are the best. 12th is ok, but not too many songs I like on there. 11th is ok but not all that many songs I like, more than 12th. 13th Style seems to have songs that sound a bit stranger or have a bit more interesting and odd melodies and beats than the others do... I guess that's because it's... well... DistorteD. xD
10th has a lot of good songs. I like Back Into the Light, that Coded Arms song, and tons of other songs there too.
