just play 8's, you just need to pass them, so its really easy even if the song is hard.

I just spent some time figuring these out. I have tested these (two test cases at end of post) and verified them to be ABSOLUTELY correct. (The information is from VJ ARMY wiki, but I wrote the info, check the editlogs if you doubt this)

==Extra Stage==

Gold CS Contains 3 types of extra stages: Normal, Vanessa and VIP Room.

Normal Extra Stage

To acquire the normal extra stage (just a fourth stage to choose) make sure the last song meets one of these requirements in addition to scoring A or higher:
* Level 6+: Full Combo
* Level 7+: Clear with groove gauge at 100%
* Level 8+: Just Clear

Vanessa

The 3 songs played must meet these requirements:
* They must all be cleared with an AA or higher (INCLUDING the third one)
* The combined difficulties of the three songs played should be 10 or higher on Single Play and 7 or higher on Double Play
* None of the following mods may be used: RANDOM, MIRROR, 5KEY and A-SCR in Single Play and in addition BATTLE in Double Play
* The third song must meet Extra Stage requirements but requires a AA instead of an A
NOTE: The difficulties of VANESSA you are allowed to play are influenced by the combined total of the difficulties of the previous 3 songs: 10SP/7DP for Normal, 20SP/17DP for Normal/Hyper and 30SP/27DP for Normal/Hyper/Another

VIP Room

The three songs' difficulties must add up to 21 or more on Single Play and 18 or more on Double Play, The third stage must meet Extra Stage requirements.

==One More Extra Stage==

Fascination MAXX

Clear VANESSA[a] with an A or higher using the HARD mod, and without using RANDOM, MIRROR, 5KEY and A-SCR in Single Play and in addition BATTLE in Double Play.

Sense 2007

Clear all three VIP room stages on another with an A or higher using the HARD mod, and without using RANDOM, MIRROR, 5KEY and A-SCR in Single Play and in addition BATTLE in Double Play. The fourth time you play and meet these requirements on any of these songs you will be able to play Sense 2007.

Now, Proof:

VIP: I played 3 songs in this succession: a 7 on which I deliberately got a C with 82% groove gauge, a 6 which got me a B, and an 8 played with EASY on and got an A.
This equals 21 and the third stage is an 8 and gets an A thus qualifies for extra stage (EASY is not explicitly forbidden therefore it is allowed)
I got the VIP room.

VANESSA: I played a 1 with EASY on and got a AA, a 2 with EASY on and got a AA, then an 8 with EASY on and got a AA.
This equals 11 which is more than 10 and I got a AA on all three songs, the last song also qualified for extra stage. (Again, it doesn't say EASY is disallowed, therefore it is allowed)
I got VANESSA with only NORMAL to choose from.

The third time I played the exact series I played for VIP but got 3 AA's, This got me both extra stages.

EDIT: I just played a fourth time this time getting 2 C's with EASY on on a 1 and a 2 (on purpose) and then I cleared an 8 with EASY on and got a A. This is insufficient for both VANESSA and VIP room, but the third stage did qualify me for an Extra Stage so I got to choose from the normal songlist.

This conclusively proves the way you get the Extra Stages and it might be wise for mods to sticky this information so the question never comes up again, I'm tired of all the misinformation floating around like the ascending requirement and the HARD requirement.

There is a sticky for this info, but i don't think it's been updated with the info from the offical page yet.

Even the official game page doesn't contain the info, only the requirements for VIP and VANESSA, but these still have to be combined with the extra stage requirements. Those aren't listed.

awesome, thanks to your research i've finally seen the special 'extra stage' song intro despite totally sucking nuts at playing since i haven't had much time to play/practice.

I believe I was able to get an extra stage by getting a full combo on a 5. I hear you can also get one by getting a perfect (all great) clear on a 4, but I haven't done that myself.

Could you please confirm that first thing for me? If that is correct I will add it to the page on remywiki.

I doubt that about the 4 though simply on the grounds that anyone who could great combo a 4 could surely clear an 8. I can't be sure though because I don't think that I could Great combo a 4.

4*: Full Just Great combo.
5*: Full Just Great/Great combo.
6*: Full Combo.
7*: Clear the song with a full Groove Gauge.
8*: Clear the song.

As far as I know, those are the stipulations, but it will be difficult to verify some of them.

Though those first two may or may not be correct, they seem a bit far fetched to me, a player that could full just great combo ANY song could probably also clear 8's

I sure as hell can't do those first two. But I will add them if someone else can prove them for me.

Those were the requirements in 6th style, according to GameFAQs (BeatMania IIDX 6th Style Cheats - BeatMania IIDX 6th Style Codes - BeatMania IIDX 6th Style Secrets).

An extra stage can be gotten by full comboing a 5 with goods, that much I know for sure.

I can confirm the full combo on a 5, because that's what I did to get The Least 100 Sec.
