Start by setting 'Timing adjust' to as close to normal timing as possible.
After a few hits, the game figures out your display lag and compensates.
Thought it'd be handy info for anyone worried.
The downside to this (?) is that your scores are remarkably better than normal if you play consistently.

HD will adjust to your CRT timing. | |

Total Tokens: 749.37 Donate Tokens | I'm pretty sure there is - I screwed with timing adjust off and on and checked it in training mode until I found one close, but when I started actually playing I noticed that as the first notes drop the notechart hops up to match my timing.
As a result I'm scoring better than I do on a normal TV
I also had to fiddle with the timing to find a good starting point - first +4, then -4, then -3, then -2.
Since -2, it's been snapping to my hits.
It makes sense to me that if you are a small amount of time off from every note, the game would compensate (A scale of -5 to +5 isn't really helpful if you have some weird lag (mine's +67ms)) so the +5/-5 is only to get you in an area where the game can compensate for the specifics.

What if you're a beginner at the game who get Goods on everything? Is the game going to sync things up so it throws the timing off even more?
Again, I somewhat doubt the game has any sort of "auto-adjust" seeing how the feature is completely undocumented and not referred to anywhere.

Under Options > Display Settings > Adjustment Timing, it was set to default. If it is helping me in a big way, I'd be disappointed.

Consider that TV's dont have uniform lag and that there are only 10 different timing adjust settings. It wouldn't be suprising if konami had an auto-adjust in place...after recording so many pgreats/greats/goods the game may adjust the timing windows (hopefully not widen them, but move them even more precisely than you could in the options menu). I'm sure the way the game does it is far more sophisticated than recording the first few hits of the song.
It would be really terrible if Konami widened the windows with timing adjust on, but I'm pretty sure there is some sort of auto-adjust in there.
