i'm not sure but the last time i was at the arcade i saw this guy playing the distorted machine with headphones would anyone recommend headphones to play beatmania?
and i was also wondering do the home versions have headphone access? or is it if the ps2 has the headphone plug in?
You would need your TV/receiver to have a headphone jack to use them at home, or get a direct RCA -> headphone adaptor which is kind of a ghetto solution.

lol i was thinking about doing that but i always have second thoughts i'll just move the a quieter part of the house and use the headphones at the arcade
I think headphones are essential. Which ones we might suggest for you is totally dependent upon how much you're willing to spend. Headphones can be $20 to a grand.
By the way, there is a 5key solution; remember that the DJ Pro controller has the headphone jack.
I can't really say that headphones helped me, nor can I say that it didn't help. Songs with very distinct timing and things that are harder to hear seem to be easier with headphones, but most songs haven't really changed.
I've never played in an arcade since there isn't one close by. I have played on imported CS styles though and I don't think there is really any need for headphones at home unless you have like a million people at your house. As far as the arcade goes, like I said I have no advice becuase I've never played there before.
I suggest a sound system. I bought a really affordable sound system at wal-mart for $40. I can't even crank it half way up without my girlfriend complaining about it being too loud, but yeah. It works good, it's a better experience, and it will not only affect gameplay, it'll enhance anything else on your television (shows, movies, etc.). I've never personally used headphones, but I bet it wouldn't be too bad of an idea. Just gotta experience both for yourself I guess.
Actually, I am perplexed as to why an arcade headphone upgrade has never been available from Konami. Of all the things that the experiment that is Beatmania III had, the headphone jack was DEFINATELY a huge highpoint. It turns the arcade experience into an entirely different one. Too many times have I been in an arcade and struggled to hear what it is I'm playing because of some other machine set to abominable levels (if you are ever in Akihabara, try playing the DDRSN in HEY...)

I remember when my friend was showing me some of the 6th style tatsujins had a couple with headphone jacks, though you don't actually see the player with them on, there was a cord coming from somewhere under the key panel. I've never seen an actually beatmania cabinet or else I would look. I haven't seen the tatsujins in a while so my memory might be a little clouded.
Hello, I'm new here. I just got BMUS, 10th , and RED, and I notice that I do better on songs, lets say 120 bpm and up with headphones. Do you think that would be a crutch if I play in the arcade or with someone else?
Also, what are some good name brands for some headphones for this game? Can they be noise canceling or does it matter?
