(Yes I saw T Bone's post, yes I read it, but I'm curious as to what other people think.) Is there another alternative that is better or just as good?

I mean, what kind of improvement are you looking for, though?

These things are done in a factory, so it doesn't take long to physically produce them at all.
Shipping to UK.. according to the spreadsheet I got from Dao says $115, same as North America. I can double check on that tonight for confirmation. I know that's what T_Bone_X_Zeo paid, and he's in Holland. Quote: |
Originally Posted by Neighbor Totoro Very nice, i really want to get one. And I believe this is done by hand after.
The reason why it is too difficult to change something is because they are produced in batches of.. I believe 20 at a time, in the factory. If he changes one thing, he has to change it for all of them. Quote: |

Not only does the USB connection power the lights, it also powers the turntable as well. No USB means you can only use the keys.
It works fine in your PC's USB ports, as you can use the controller to play other various games, such as DJMAX. Quote: |

I mean, what kind of improvement are you looking for, though? | Well mainly, I'm pretty much looking for something where it's just as good as a DJ DAO but it's not as pricey. After watching the overhead video of it, the switches DJ DAO uses are harder to push down. Is it a huge difference or is it just a little bit more effort?

(Yes I saw T Bone's post, yes I read it, but I'm curious as to what other people think.) Is there another alternative that is better or just as good? | Really depends on your taste. The PE flawlessly emulates the feeling of the arcade, in terms of both the keys and the turntable. The material of the TT is about 85% that of the arcade, very very close. The weight of it is perfect, and spins smoothly. The keys are Sanwas with Omron switches, same as arcade.
I have an older DASC, with the older turntable. It's not as good as the PE's turntable, but the DASC has a newer turntable since I got it! So I can't say for sure.
In terms of the keys on my DASC, I ordered the cheaper, DA modded keys. Obviously they don't feel as good as Sanwas, but that is completely up to the person buying it. DA also has the option of Sanwas, so whether you want to dish out the extra cash for it is your choice. In the end, if you are pleased with the keys and turntable on both controllers, it all comes down to aesthetics.
The Platinum Edition controller is, as I've said, manufactured by machines, in a factory. Each one of them has every angle, every cut of plastic matching the next. It has a very professional look to it. I'd say that is the advantage to getting a Dao controller.
The advantage to getting a Desktop Arcade ASC is the customization. The color of the body, color of the plexiglass, color of LEDs, controller art. You name it, and Steve will work it out for you. He's a good guy.
Ransai? Who knows. Not out yet. Quote: |

If you get a DASC with no lights, and no Sanwas, that's your cheapest option. The keys on the Dao are official Sanwas. They are not nearly as difficult to press now as in the video (takes time to wear them in). You WILL notice a difference in feel between the two types of keys, but it's not a bad one. And it no way does it make it any more difficult for me to play the game. The aim of using Sanwas is to match the feel of the arcade perfectly.
In case anyone hasn't noticed, I updated the first post with the PE pics I took that were on 6.0

I am guessing the pics are of the FP7-S, rather than the cheaper model.
As much as I would like to get the Sanwas, I dont think I can afford them, and still build the Pop n' Music ASCs that me and my friend are gonna build.
When my controller gets in, I'll do a review and a video.
Just as soon as the site gets up...

Also tons more pics because you can't get enough of the look of the PE, its so great.

How much to ship to Australia? is the controller reversible for 2P or is it 1P side only?
