Marketplace Rating: 0 | How to make a turntable of the 2dx controller? I have made a pop'n music controller by using 2dx keys and a ps1 hand controller
and it feels good
so I'm studying how to make a turntable now
but I got stuck
I found it's too hard to make a turntable output two different signals by turning it and turning it back
I tried to make it by a one-chip computer,but I failed
so anyone here can help me?
many thx! | |

Someone posted some info on there in regards to a circuit that used specific ICs to interpret the output of a shaft-mount optical encoder. I'm sure if Random or the person who made that diagram and posted it saw it, they'd be able to give more info, but rest assured that it can be done.

I never publicly posted them, though, because honestly it's a lot of work, and fairly complex if you aren't already a competent solderer. If anyone wants the details, I'd be happy to talk about it, but I don't want anyone to get the impression that it's a quick or easy project. Once you're talking about connecting ICs, one tiny mistake in the layout makes the whole thing not work, and there's not much way to help troubleshoot it if something goes wrong.

No lie, either. | |

I didn't remember if you had actually posted the schematics for it or not, I just knew for certain that information about the circuit was posted and what parts/part numbers were necessary to make it work.

Throw in a handful of resistors, capacitors, and terminal blocks, and presto! One circuit. I'm happy to discuss the layout with anyone who wants to give it a try, but again, this one isn't for the faint of heart. Feel free to PM me with requests if desired.

No lie, either. | I heard that people that tried to use the rave discman have really horrible turn-table performance. Like, it "works", but it works so badly that it either doesn't register enough times to hit heavy scratching or it spazzes out. So if you were playing nothing but L7, sounds like the rave discman would be a rad bet. But if you want to make a quality controller for all levels of play... you gotta use an official Konami one, and sometimes even that doesn't turn out right.

Marketplace Rating: 2 | This may sound strange and/or dumb, but how would you go about building a turntable that puts out analog signal like the arcade?

The PS2 controller's turntable only outputs "up" and "down" on the controller, and those are treated entirely digitally. In fact, the IIDX controller is just another controller -- there's a reason you have to tell it you're using one. The button layout, for what it's worth:
UP L1 R1 L2
DOWN Square X Circle LEFT
with the turntable being on the left and the "LEFT" on the far right (shut up) being left-on-the-control-pad.
Anyway, long and short of it, you can't get it to output an analog signal unless you build your own from a hacked-up ball mouse, and even then you'd only be able to use it with the computer for ILLICIT MEANS.
EDIT: stupid thing screwed up the layout on my diagram (grumble grumble)
