Just the gundam machines i mentioned were definately using a ps2 system. I worked in an arcade a few years back and there was a PS2 inside a cabinet that was especially made for that purpose............maybe they had to buy some rights from sony...........maybe they were just breaking the law

PS2s can be used in an arcade setting as long as all the software was correctly lisenced. For example, if that gundam game was simply a standard consumer version, linked into a cabinet where you pay for time on the game, that is most definately illegal. But if it was actually an arcade game, just one that uses the PS2 as its computing unit, that is perfectly legal. In all these cases, it is the software and trademarks that matter most, not the actual hardware used inside the machine.

You may want to ask "Anthony" or "Andy" about it.

They are owners/staff of this American arcade called "TGA" (located in the state of Masachusetts).

What makes them different from other arcades in the continent is that they get their BM IIDX hardware stuff DIRECTLY from Konami. Usually, the stigma here is that you would pay higher in order to get the same stuff that you can get in the black market or thru second-hand suppliers.

If you want to get more accurate/precise data on how much it costs (brand new machine, upgrade kits, etc.), you may want to ask them.

You may also want to ask them on how they were able to get special access to Konami arcade merchandise, how much more they had to spend compared to black market prices and to ask them on how YOU can purchase stuff direct from Konami (if you plan to go legal and do it the HARD way but with less legal obstacles). A possible advantage is if you decide to fork out extra and go legal, they may actually give support since they would see you as a special overseas buyer. Heck, they might probably give you backdoor access to e-amusement as well (for 5-10x the Japan monthly fee )

Anyways, if you need more info, you can find their usernames in this site or better yet, go to www.tokyogamingaction.com

Hope that helps.
