Default Hyper Difficulty

Ive been playing beatmania for a few months and I want to start working on progressing to the next difficulty (hyper in my case) I own beatmania for america and I play 8th style @ my friend's house, so I would like to hear your opinion of what songs I should work on, or try out in order to push myself to the next level. (they don't neccessarily have to be from the games I listed just tell me what u think and next time I'm in the arcade I'll give your songs a try)

just start from the top of the list and work your way down. for more training, play your light favorites with "random" on

I consider myself on hyper once I can pass every song on my edition

You'll be "on Hyper" long before you clear every Hyper song. Or are you referring to Normal? Because some songs like The Safari (which is on 8th so you can play it) are just ridiculous in terms of Hyper difficulty.

Haha, yeah. With your old definition of "being on Hyper," it would mean that I'm not even on Hyper yet either. The last thing I beat was V on hyper (barely with 80%), and still don't have Summer Vacation or Nemesis yet. So I've beaten Colors and V (hyper), yet I'm still on Normal .

I think by the time you can do EVERY song in Hyper/7k, you should already be destroying Anothers, which would make you an Another player. :P I think everyone seems to find the hurdle is between 6-9 star songs, but you should be considered a "Hyper" player if you're in that range.

And about jelly kiss... it's just really, really different from other songs since it's one of the few that spams 5-key+ chords... most of the songs in Hyper/7k from 8th, 9th, RED, and USA usually have 3-key chords, with the 5-key+ chords for endings (Beyond the Earth, Raspberry Heart, etc.)

Now I'm not an AAAing machine, and I'm barely scraping by some 8 star songs, but I find that the 5-6-star songs were extremely helpful in transitioning (but this is from playing BMUSA and 9th style, not 8th.)

Hmmm, for easier songs in Hyper (using 8th and USA)...

Hitch Hiker
bit mania
Dancer
Flute Man
Suggestion
V35
I Was The One

Basically anything, just spam the 5-star to 6-star songs in Hyper/7k... and sometimes you actually improve by playing songs out of your league like the 7-stars, and you just keep practicing till you see that your grade is improving in your song. Pushing aggressively really helps for IIDX, IMO.

true, i believe that AA should have a bit easier note chart since it is popular so that more players can play it. The difficulty jump from AA [L7] to AA [7key] is tremendous, even greater than the jump from 7key to Another. When Happy Sky comes out, Xepher is sort of the same situation. Popular song, pretty difficult hyper chart.

As for me, I can play most hyper songs except flashing 8's and a few anothers from the earlier styles. Another mode has changed over the years...

Were you a DDR player before you started IIDX? I ask because back when I played DDR I would use phrases such as "being on standard" or "being on heavy". IIDX doesn't really have a clear difficulty shift like DDR does. As other people have said, there are plenty of anothers that are far easier than a lot of hyper songs. So my suggestion is, rather than worry about passing everything on hyper, think about what star level you can pass. It actually helps to play the anothers that are at or a little above the hyper level songs you can pass. Also, if you get frustrated at a certain level, I find that it's fun to go back to normal and practice timing.

If you play the hardest difficulty, take the training mode so you get it more.

I had use this list: http://sungeki.hp.infoseek.co.jp/bmrank/bmrank.htm

it has all the songs from 1st style to Happy Sky with their difficulties rated from 1 to 50 (like popnī games).

Try to clear all under 20, then all under 25, etc

(sorry for my english but im from Spain)

edit: try the "anothers" too.

Don't rank yourself by difficulty class. It's a bad DDR habit. Rank yourself by number difficulty. It helps you keep track of where you are, and not limiting yourself to a single difficulty makes for more available songs to play.

Now that I think about it you're all right about the "on hyper" thing sry

I did end up passing jelly kiss and a few others, including Mobo Moga and The Cube. I just really have to work @ it, because in hyper i cna see the association of a lot more doubles, and a few triples I don't have problems reading patterns, its just hard when they chunk up certain parts in the song with beats, the end especially y'know?

Unfortunately, my friends 8th style isn't working as of late, the game starts and everything, but when you pick a song, it goes to the play screen, the song name fades, and the game freezes, every single song. Hes having it cleaned though, so maybe I'll be able to play it again sometime soon.

I appreciate you're help
