Hand placement varies from person to person. I would definitely advise not to play one-handed - some people swear by it but you will be making it harder on yourself. Use both hands for the keys and try and get used to using your pinkie or ring finger to scratch. Later on you'll develop preferred fingers / thumbs for each key, but don't worry too much about that now, just concentrate on hitting the right ones.
The main thing when you're first starting out is to get used to the layout of the keys and be able to hit any of them without looking. You're basically just training your brain to recognise a note on the screen and then hit the corresponding key without even thinking. It takes practise, but with any luck you'll get bitten by the bug and won't be able to put it down. Good luck! |
