So I've been getting the Bemani bug again and I'm looking to get back into some IIDX (and PNM). The fact that the third party controllers have come a LONG way from the regular small Konami plastic controller has me excited about playing at home.
So that being said, I haven't played a home mix since Red. I've played some happy sky but not enough to listen to all the new songs (I played very few new songs, I mostly played songs that I knew from previous mixes)...
So which mixes should I check out? I'm planning to order gold along with another IIDX mix. So which one should I check out?
Why yes, Compass the Great, embodiment of God himself, has absolute judgement on the matter. Speak not of personal opinion, for this is not a subjective matter.
Okay so now I should look at Gold and DistorteD? I'm getting a little confused. I should check out some of the soundtracks I guess...I knew before you would hear a lot of the same tracks on each mix. I take it that it's changed a bit since the last time I was playing???

Oh yeah I remember you.
The last time I saw you play IIDX was in a video where you playing on a RED machine somewhere in the state of Nebraska around 4-5 years ago (that was you, right?)

Anyhow, I'd recommend HS and GOLD and 10th. The first two because of the timing adjustment function (esp. usefully for those who have HDTVs) and 10th because the songlist is fun.
Nuff said

10th style has some of the best music, but it lacks stuff like real Sudden+ and highspeeds beyond 4.0, and the nifty ms number that gold has. Gold is pretty fun, but some of the music isn't all that great. RED is alright if you don't mind it having lots of eurobeat like 7th and 8th did.
