IIDX 10th Style/Swap Magic problems

I've been trying to play my backup of 10th style using Swap Magic and it works fine but on certain songs (IIRC; Fly through the Night, Quasar, some others) the game just freezes up on me. Is it just a bad backup or is it the Swap Magic?

Do you have a flip-top?
I have a big PS2 with the flip-top, and when I played a backup 10th (back before I had it), and it did that sometimes. What you have to do is open the Flip-Top on the PS2 and let the game load up with the opened top, maybe count to 5 and then close the top, and it'll load up the song.
I don't know about the small PS2's though...I never had a problem with my friend's small PS2 on IIDX backups.

i have a similiar problem playing BMUS(original) on my Japanese PS2 the loading times seems huge compared to the Japanese releases, and sometimes after a song i get a black screen.

Ive tried a couple of Swap Magic disks and it happens with all of them, so i can only presume its something odd that happens with BM games (doesnt have a problem with anything else)

I guess it's just for IIDX, cuz I tried some other imports and they never did that.
Though, it doesn't do it for my friend's small PS2, so I don't know

It's a backup. You can't expect a backup to work like a legit copy always.

Try playing the legit copy you have.

i had the exact problem with iidx red, try re-ripping the game onto the hdd and burning the fresh image, i did this and it now works fine!

Maybe it does come from the fact that it is a backup after all. All of my IIDX collection is made of legit copies and I never had any problem at all, even with my good ol' Swap Magic 3.3
