And why did TGA lose the GOLD machine? I thought they were allowed to keep it? :<

That and the new management in the arcade doesn't know how to fix games. Chalk that up to me not being around again.
Anyway, they've since done renovations to the place, and since they started the second phase of their project (lazer tag), it seems they sold/got rid of their 8th style.
So no more IIDX in Augusta, Ga.

So does this mean pre-9th ran on CDs, post-8th ran on some XP based system, and Gold ran on "just-plain-something-else"?

9th-Distorted use BemaniPC
GOLD and DJTroopers is on (apparently) Taito TypeX.
The thing is, iirc GOLD and DJT still need the USB connection used in BemaniPC, so while yes it's a hardware jump, you won't see quite so many "complete" kits floating around. I'm not sure if Konami sold "complete" kits for GOLD/DJT, but the USB thing was mostly just packaged with 9th and a few 10th kits so they are rare.

Better graphics card, bit more ram, slightly faster processor. Everything else about it is exactly the same as BemaniPC. I think people say it's TypeX because the overall specs are similar (slightly better on this new hardware) and the cage looks the similar (it's far more compact), but it isn't actually TypeX. One thing that kind of gives it away is the hard drives that are used, IIRC TypeX uses standard IDE connections for the drives themselves, GOLD and DJT use SATA. Not anything major I know, but that still speaks for it's difference.

Definitely worthy to me if I ever return to the USA and pass by your arcade rooms ^_^ That said, I hope they've maintained the 6th Style machine in Primm after I got there in 2005, when I played it the slot wouldn't accept any coins (I got free plays for reporting that problem) and the left-side 1 key was sticky.
But anyway, keep this topic going!
