Default IIDX cabinet questions, about settings ( dont know if theres a faq for this)

So im going to the arcade tomorow and this time i wanna see if i change some of the settings on the machine. the main thing i wanna change is the time you have to select a song. the machin has it on 20 sec. i want to put it the maximum time possible. also i would like to adjust the volume and difficulty. ive had experience with doing this sort of thing on pump it up machines so i imagine it cant be that hard. thanks for everyones help.

1) Press the "TEST" button (in order for the system to into the test mode menu)
2) Highlight and select "Game Options"
3) To change the game timer, highlight "SELECT TIME" and change the timer from there (NOTE: 60 seconds is the max. time; infinite timer is only possible in Event Mode)
4)To change difficulty, highlight "DIFFICULTY" and set it to "LEVEL 1/EASIEST".

That's pretty much it. Btw, you can't adjust volume via test mode menu as you can only adjust the volume knob of the machine (which you can easily find). What you can adjust is "SOUND IN ATTRACT MODE" which is the sound that is heard when the game is in demo mode or when no one is playing.

Take note that for versions from 9th up to 12th Happy Sky, you can only change the cycles when the sound will be outputted from the machine (ranges from: "ALL THE TIME", "ONE OUT OF FOUR CYCLES" or "COMPLETELY OFF). For 13th Distorted, 14th GOLD and even up to the latest version available, you can only adjust the volume of the sound in attract mode: Either you hear it (100%) or you don't (0%).

That's pretty much it and hopefully that answers your question.

P.S.
Btw, what version of BM IIDX is in your arcade? I ask this because what I'm talking about is for versions of the game that use Windows XP hardware...........and this may not necessarily apply for older versions (8th and below) that use the Twinkle Hardware. So it would be wise to take note of this.....

Ehmm.. Why would players be able to access this menu? This menu contains all the settings for the machine, so it's quite normal not being able to access this. Isn't the test button at the back of the arcade cabinet or something?

Don't change the difficulty, thats not how IIDX is played.

It is automatically using Windows XP hardware. Pre-9th used that "twinkle" stuff. 9th was the switch, where everyone who wanted to upgrade from 8th was forced to buy a new cabinet (or was it available to just buy the system core?). Either way, 13 would not operate on "twinkle."

Don't change the difficulty, thats not how IIDX is played.
The TEST button is inside of the cabinet below the keys, and for a good reason. Having access to the configuration allows you to change how many songs you can play within one gameplay (five songs in free mode, etc), the difficulty (instant easy mode, etc), cheaper cost (twenty-five cents a game, etc), original course edit (this is useful actually) and everything else that can make the game not authentic.

And prodygee is right. Unless the game level isn't already set to the default at 4, then you shouldn't be changing it around, especially to make the difficulty lower. If you wanted to make it higher, then that's a completely different story.

But yeah, that time limit of 20 seconds should be changed, though.

The 9th switchover went from Playstation-based Twinkle hardware to BemaniPC. The BemaniPC has a converter device called the USB IO that allows all cabinets to plug into the BemaniPC - it converts everything to USB signals.

There are supposedly upgrade kits available that can bypass the need for the ever-expensive and rare USB IO.

This might be a good opportunity for me to ask - our local IIDX cab (10th Style - eww!) is fairly quiet by default and if you use the effectors, it practically mutes the sound - you can't adjust the levels at all and it basically sounds unamplified. So:

1. If I wanted to tell an arcade tech how to fix the effectors, what exactly should I suggest he do? Rather than send him on a wild goose chase and have him lose interest...
2. Can the master volume still be adjusted?

I know #1 can be fixed because it was - for a little while. It's been a reoccuring problem since 9th Style arrived (cab was originally 3rd Style). The machine isn't going to be upgraded anytime soon and I think if I explain more volume = more desirability, it'd do the owner and the players a world of justice. Any tips would be great, thanks!

Ask him if his upgrade was purchased from Konami. If it wasn't, whoever made his bootleg upgrade probably did it wrong. Ask him to PM me if he needs help fixing it.

Doubt it was purchased through Konami but it still could be legit. But I'm not sure. I do remember when they first got the kit they were confused as hell because the manual was in Japanese, so they had to wait until they could find a customer who knew Japanese. The manual was probably a photocopy if it was a bootleg or not though so that's probably not reliable info...

I dunno, I might skip the problem for now because I noticed all the games were turned down today. Someone must have bitched about noise...
