IIDX Controller Buttons

I was going through youtube, and i cam across this vid:

that mod he's using looks & sounds awesome. his keys sound different than when i play with my controller. and what's the thing on the bottom of his IIDX turntable?

anyone know anything 'bout it?

It looks like he put Sanwa or some other brand of arcade buttons in there. And since they were too long to fit into the original KOC housing, he needed to make a base to sort of "extend" the bottom of his controller. If you look, you can see hinges connecting the KOC to the base he made, so that he can open it up and fix any wires, replace buttons etc. Not a bad mod.

He's using Controllica brand buttons. There is a thread burried somewhere with some info on it lol.

Basically, he ripped out the plastic buttons of the KoC and bought buttons from controllica.com. Then he swapped the springs out and got other switches... drilled holes through the controller and built a box around it. =D Works really well. =)

I might make a video showing the controller insides and stuff if my roomie is okay with it.

are the controllica buttons pretty good? i was going to build my own controller, what other options are there? i don't know if i'd want to go all the way for sanwas and take forever to "break them in"... and even if i did i don't know where to order them.

Yeah, I love my controllica's, but I took the spring out completely so the rebound of the button is dependent on the micro switches mechanism. They are very hard to push down with the springs in, but nice without. I don't think there are a lot of other options. there are Happ poker buttons, but these stick out as they require circle mounting holes.
