Default IIDX controller (Japan ver.)

Hello all.. I had a Japan IIDX controller I used to play on PS2 with(few years ago) and one day came home and found the dog had destroyed it. Well after that life went on and I never took time to get a new one and I pretty much left my PS2 alone. Well I recently got an urge to play some IIDX and I only have a BMUS controller and I just really do NOT like it. The keys are spread out a bit more and it just doesn't feel as comfy as my old one. Anyways, I looked online to buy one and wow they seem expensive! Is there somewhere online to order one that maybe has pre-owned or something so they aren't so high? The cheapest one I found was $113(with shipping and all). The problem is I wont be playing the game all the time, just for old fun every now and then. I have a family now and don't have time to play all the time ya know. Any info would me much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Yeah, they're that expensive, it's rediculous.

I could sell you my set of JP KOC keys+ the shell. but you would have to have experience soldering to the circuit board, and cutting plastic due to the connection slot and the entire KOC shell is too big to go into the USKOC keypanel slot.

I was going to work on doing that for a friend but he seemed to like the US KOC keys so I just sold him the US KOC instead without modifying it.

Try ebay man, seriously. I have seen some JKOC's (japanese konami original controllers) - going for around 60-70 bones used... (with shipping)

Although, a used IIDX controller is well.. a used iidx controller. who knows how beaten in it could be.

You could always try modding your BMUS controller (i.e. the old coin or cardboard mod) to make it more comfortable.

-otherwise sadly, You'll have to fork out the shells for a full priced one.

Check the Marketplace, no one sells them for more than 70 there.

This is pretty much the cheapest way to go.

Someone did have like 5 or so up for sale not that long ago. Not sure if they've all been sold or not though.

You don't have to coinmod, only turntable slip mod. Which would make it more playable.

Just loosening the TT screw and removing the spring worked for me. No need to slipmat.

Just a word of warning; I bought a used Jkoc off someone on the marketplace here (won't name names), who listed the condition as 'good'. When I got it I had to modify the fuck out o' the bastard to get it to a playable state. Pretty much every key stuck on every press, and I mean stuck like a bastard so I had to actually stop playing to get them out. A few hours of various carboard thickness and key shaving later and I have a working koc. In his defence, the price was very good ($60, so about £40 in real money), but I'd have appreciated being made aware of the state of the thing beforehand.

Owning both a JP KOC and a US KOC, to me the Japanese KOC had more issues with sticky buttons (along with friends') than the US. The US seemed to break a little more easily however (it is lighter, so less plastic molding?). Both have the same spacing though, and feels similar aside from the turntables (US seems to be stiffer...either that or the JP one's been broken in a lot). I dunno, I think the US one is fine, just be a bit careful with it.

I'm a controller destroyer. The USKOCs I've had were absolute garbage. I've wrecked 2 USKOC's already, one from demolishing the TT and the other from snapping the PCB.

I've used the same JKOC for 7 months with not even a single sticky key.

The USKOC also has an INSANE (for my tastes) amount of travel before the key registers. I'm HC'ing bullshit 12s on my JKOC and I can't even come close to beating an 11 on my USKOC.
