Total Tokens: 169.65 Donate Tokens | iidx gold 2 I'm sick and tried of Japan having 15 different games based on iidx. The only iidx game in America is beatmanina for the PS2. I want a game made based on Japan iidx games, like iidx 14, it is the newest game out now, and they already made an arcade version of iidx gold. I believe that if this game were to come out for the PS2, This can make a lot of people happy, and myself, because it doesn't seem hard to remake a game based a japanese game. Do you think so?

And there probably isn't a large enough player base to warrant the time and effort required to localize the game.

Not true, in fact, many people believe would think the same way about what I hope to happen in the future. Just look at MGS4, Komani in Japan had a lot of people to make this game, then when America took the liberty to dub and create the english version of MGS4, it took a lot of people too, but to make the best games come alive, and sure money is a problem, but as time comes, the process to create iidx gold for the english version is a simple process to complete the best game to thousands of people to enjoy. I am saying all of this is because I am trying to become a video game designer and must take action on future games, and this is one of them.

IIDX as well as other BEMANI games are a niche genre. Compared to other video games, very few people in the US could care less what the hell beatmania eye-eye-dee-ecks 14 GOLD is.
P.S. - BMUS sold pretty well, actually, for a game with absolutely no hype or advertisements.

IIDX had BMUS which sold poorly.

And you obviously are not doing "good" in school, demonstrated by your poor performance in grammar.

But if a decent version was in the states with marketing like guitar heroes, maybe could take off......which is cool because more players = more chance of DJ Troopers and beyond for everyone at home. BMUS looked dated the day it was announced and is shite.
If Guitar heroes can do well worldwide, surely beatmania could to. I bet a huge percentage of gfuitar hero players never heard of beatmania. If they liked that, then they will more than likely love IIDX also, given a decent chance.
IF ONLY Konami would invest in a decent overseas version to gain more players. I dont give a crap if I dont get an 'English' version of Beatmania and have to import them, i just want more players worldwide so Konami doesnt eventually ditch this game at home [as almost happened after 6th style CS]

Total Tokens: 2,414.29 Donate Tokens | Japan has had at LEAST a decade worth of beatmania-based success, which is why it's still so famous there.
It was very late in bringing over beatmania (IIDX or not) worldwide. Guitar Hero and albeit other North American music-based games have already gotten a head start and has already given themselves a high reputation among music gamers here; DDR machines were already spread around the US, simply because it was more popular among gamers anywhere. DDR hit home console versions earlier and had a much bigger impact over here, which is why it's still in high regard among music game players, American or not.
beatmania or IIDX would not do very well over here; people would not notice or know it well enough to play it, and it would contribute to bad sales over here because people are already used to Guitar Hero and other North American music games, whether they played it as a demo in a store, at their friend's house, whatever.
beatmania came late into the music game competition in the US, which is why people are always all "oh, beatmania is like a Guitar Hero rip-off". People are ignorant of the success it has had in Japan, but since other music games here are so famous and "fun" to play already, they don't really care.
And people who do try get discouraged because of beatmania's horrendous learning curve. Only die-hard Bemani fans (like myself) are willing to get into it and such.
People who like IIDX a lot tend to just get the overseas version, mostly because they are better and they own styles prior to it.
Konami did not market the US beatmania well. And I don't think they've really considered marketing another one out of the blue, like a GOLD or TROOPERS version for the US. I think it would take a lot to convince them to. They'd need enough players to consider localizing and dubbing the game, and then they'd have to think if we'd actually buy them or not. The bad thing about the Konami of America thing is that they usually try to make the music-based games appeal to other people, such as putting in licenses and crap. It usually takes up valuable disk space, and the game will turn out to be a flop among big time players (look at US SuperNOVA 2). And people who aren't familiar with the game usually are not going to buy it. It's just a hassle trying to appeal to both the veteran and never-played-before crowd.
And there's always the "Simply because we can" part of it. It kinda stinks that the US only had one version of beatmania, but if you really want to enjoy the arcade styles, it's a much better decision to invest in importing the games and using many of the ways to play foreign games on a PS2.
Just my $0.02.
