Because of the strict-ass policies, IIDX GOLD locations would be a total bust and after seeing the low activity, Konami could have second thought about IIDX being profitable in the U.S. Odds are that most 6 to 11 year-olds won't play the game or judge it badly because they suck at it, and IIDX does not have that big of a fan-base in most areas. A lot of people drove or flew to the original GOLD location, so it means that there were a lot players than just the locals who lived there playing GOLD, and something tells me that the people that didn't go there are not going to make the effort to fly to the location if they didn't last time.
Due to age restrictions and the other reasons I listed above, I would have to say that D&B is a poor location for IIDX GOLD testing, and the very few locations that it would be successful at are like diamonds in the rough. You'd have better luck setting up a test location cabinet at a random broadwalk (especially during the summer). :\

I just called our GM, he seemed really nice and open to it. He said D&B is trying to find new games that other places wouldn't have to bring customers the newest entertainment out there instead of just going with what's safe and popular like they always have in the past (Time Crisis, HOTD, etc.) and that he thinks it's a decent possibility. He suggested we also try spamming the comment box on the site (which I can't seem to find? :<) and making sure to call/write/e-mail corporate as much as possible because it would have to be their decision to OK it and not his. Sounding positive though :]

This dude is an amusement manager for some DNB, and if you get close to him and say the right things through Myspace, I think you could make a difference.

Yeah, I don't buy it. There's still plenty of time to play. I don't see mall arcades going out of business because the mall closes at 9pm and needs that 9pm-2am action.

Marketplace Rating: 15 | So I'm a bit out of the loop here. Has it been confirmed yet as to whether or not IIDX is going to be released in the US? Or is it still just speculation? It is a good idea though to get off on the right foot and start asking prior just in case. Anywho D&B would be a good location, it would make lower end arcades want to pick up the game too.
On a side note, a few guys I know who run an arcade went to the convention in Vegas last week. (I forget the name ASI??) They haven't upgraded Beatmania since Hiphop 2nd complete lol but they were definitely impressed with the way Gold looked and with the amount of people it gathered. So it's in the works here with them, after all they have my guarantee that I would easily spend $10 a day there considering the fact it's right across the street from my house, but I'm only one man! We'll see how it goes.

also to your second paragraph, you make it sound like you can upgrade a complete Mix 2 to GOLD, you can't, thats over 10 years old, not to mention 5 keys. Not to mention that GOLD is going to be way over $10,000, so the game is a bit out of the price range for normal arcade owners, try asking a big company, like we are trying to do, the result will work in numbers.

If you can convince Mike, than it should be a sure thing.
good luck. | Quote: |

Me being an Asst. Amusement Manager is still pretty low on the totem pole. game purchasing is not made at the store level. The gentleman's whose name I mentioned earlier has been in this business for around 20 years, so Like I said before, if you can persuade him, then it shouldnt be a real problem.
Good Luck. | I sent him back asking for e-mail addresses to use to reach him and other ways to reach D&B corporate, since I didn't see any on the site. I also still think it's worth expressing interest on a store-basis because the owners can always request it and tell higher management that they are getting lots of requests for it.

NOt to mention Burnswick as a corporate, (again that's "CORPORATE" not just that one bowling alley in that small town company) and Konami decided on showcasing GOLD in Illinois. "let us not forget that time in Illinios IIDX players" - this should go in an american IIDX bible. LOL.
So there you have it, don't fret, Burnswicks got ya.
If you are having a issue with understanding company decisions, then you don't know how businesses run. But big names like KONAMI have to get direct permission for such advertisement from the corporate offices to have done something like that. Konami just didnt show up one day and asked the local manager "can we bring a game here and display it to see how will it does?"
Looking at the bigger picture, Burnswick must have agreed and signed a contract with Konami, and Burnswick probably agreed to buy an amount of machines and put them out around the US if the testing phase was going to succeed. And testing probably did succeed. So Burnswick has to buy the machines after they get the results. In other words, Konami gets this many hits(people to play) you buy an amount of machines from us. BAM!! And Burnwicks will make the profits nationwide.
Don't forget either....Burnswick tested SuperNOVA before its nationwide release, and almost every Burnswick got one, not to mention renovated most of their locations.
