iidx learning curve

After one year and a half of playing iidx casually I'm able to clear 8-10k songs on hyper (sync, quasar to name a few) and some 7-9k on another (the easy ones). My question is:
Am I in the right track?will I ever be able to clear really hard songs like AA(a) or Double Thrash(a)?. Should I succumb to the typewriter* Technique and broaden my chances at those crazy songs?

Practice is key =P


Just keep playing and eventually, you'll be able to reach those songs

Just keep playing. Everyone advances at different levels. Some freaks can beat hard songs after a week or so, while others take a long time. Just don't give up if you think you've hit a plateau. In reality you are actually slowly getting better, but you just aren't realizing it.

i'm about where you are

1.5 year of playing and passing most 8's some 9's and a few easy 10's

like all the other advises, practice is key. Don't push yourself too hard though. Sometimes, I find my accuracy better after taking a few days off.

Yet, the most difficult roadblocks come from 10s->11s and 11s->12s

Perhaps a few easy tips:

Some songs that will help you break these common roadblocks:

10s->11s
Harmony and Lovely [a]
Gold Rush [a]
Vanessa [h]
Quasar [a]
Giudecca [a]

11s->12s
Gigadelic [h]
Gigadelic [a]
tripping contact [a]

Your doing very good. I hit a few walls myself.
Usually the Normal to HYPER jump. Ive been playing for about 9 months and I can pass 7 & 8 [H] and the easier anothers.
My goal for the end of the year is either VANESSA [H] or MEI [H]

I just checked Mei's another and i just gotta say, how ridiculously hard can iidx get? lmao. Thats like the hardest chart i've seen!

I think next to MEI [A], my next favorite hard one is MENDES [A].
That chart is just mean.

I am at to 8/9 wall right now. I have finally started getting good at single scales (songs like look into the sky [H], etc), and scales, but when the 9's come things happen faster than I can keep up. I have passed some easier 9's, but I need some suggestions for 9's that are also easy to help with that wall. - interestingly enough there are still a few 8's that I have not passed, it seems like scale songs leave me with 80 - 82%, or 70 - 80% fail... (Boom boom disco night...)

gigadelic is easy with a decent random.

Now for the walls are you saying easy 11s/12s that you probably will find ridiculously hard without a lot of practice? Or just the easiest 11s/12s? Because Concertino in blue is ridiculously hard for me. I can pass easily with AS but without it its a flat out fail whether I have random on or not.

If you are talking about easiest 11s then:
-Nageki no ki [h]
-D.C. fish [a]
-Harmony and lovely [a]
-Dawn -The next endeavor- [a]
-Kecak [a]

Can't assist much on 12s other than V [a] or Due tomorrow [a], but Due tomorrow is more a gimmick, so its not really a helpful 12 to clear.
