IIDX techniques thread, mods and the like So I created this thread since people have a lot of opinions on which mods are legit and which aren't on beatmania IIDX and hopefully through this thread, we can put an end to discussions.
Here is what I believe is NOT ACCEPTABLEw when trying to go for yours and get high scores on beatmania:
- Using foreign keys on CS IIDX: Dualshock, sanwas and the like. Konami intended for the KOC and ASC to be used so in official score-ranking, players should use the default keys only.
- Overplaying songs like Xepher: When people do this it devoids the game of challenge. In arcade mode, if you play a song once, it disappears afterwards. Free mode just devoids this challenge. IIDX players nowadays are way too impatient IMHO. If you play a song once and get a AAA thats impressive; but if it takes you like 5 plays then it's really not that impressive. Take a note from Popn Music players here.
- Using random on scale-heavy songs like garden [A]: Self-explanatory and related to the previous technique. Anyone can pass Kakumei [A] with a good random, but nonrandom it is one of the most difficult songs in the game (It was the OMES for 7th Style)
- Overuse of record-scratching and "jive\urban" slang: Not only is this disruptive to other players, it's a cheap way to learn scratching IMHO. Try to read the scratches individually instead. Also, I can't stand all those players that use a hat when playing songs like Rakuen. Do you ever see a person on ITG playing Vertex^2 with a hat on? Of course not. Beatmania is no different.
Anywho those are my opinions on this matter. Post yours. Also about Life Difficulty 1 I think too many people criticize this, they're just elitists trying to force us to play on Difficulty 3 or higher. Scores save with this mod and there's not a little flag saying "Life1 cleared" by your score so Konami intended leniency in this category, IMHO. That's how I cleared rage against the usual [A] with a C, it was so exhilarating.
