Default Important Thread about the fate of IIDX GOLD in America

Alright, as you may all know, I have several connections to Konami and Betson in one way or another. Now I cannot really speak of what I have heard, but I am going to say as much as I can. Hopefully you all believe me enough to make this happen. If you don't know about me, talk to any off the staff on this site, they will back me up for my word on this.

The fate of IIDX in America right now is grim, chances are it will never happen. There is really only one hope, and that is hustling arcades over the next few weeks. lets just say Betson is NOWHERE near their quota of ordered machines, and if they don't hit that, this isn't coming out. So here is my advice:

If your arcade owner already said they were going to get it or they already talked to Betson, this is NOT good enough. Trust me, I've seen the order list, your arcade isn't on it yet. Make them ORDER the machine. They have to comit to order it.

If your arcade doesn't know what it is, explain it to them, and MAKE THEM ORDER IT.

And lastly, I have to back up Brazo, after looking into things at a larger corporate level, Dave and Busters very well may be the be all and end all decission maker on this, as their order would be the largest order in America. You need to call your local D&B and keep on their asses about interest in IIDX Gold, if they do not commit to ordering pieces for all of their locations ,then the game WILL NOT come out. You can trust me on this much, DB is VERY interested, but not sold yet. Call your local D&B and stress this game, then do one better and call any corporate office you can get intouch with and stress this. Betson HAS to hit their quote, and it isn't looking good.

-Anthony

I hate to be the one to say this, but I think we all kind of saw this coming. We know that the arcade industry in the West is not nearly what it needs to be to be able to make buying ~$20,000 niche music game machines worthwhile. At that kind of price tag, it would take months or years for a machine to pay for itself, so you'd be pretty much banking on the assumption that people will come to the arcade to play that game but also spend some other money while they're there. And when it comes down to it, it just makes more sense to use that floor space for something more profitable. To the average American arcade owner, it's all about ticket games, fighting games, and racing games.

I'm kind of surprised Konami kept their interest up this long.

Do we have any official confirmation on what Betson's quota is? I'm curious to know.

So assuming we have 2-3 weeks to get D&B to place a large-scale order, I am going to be calling in twice every day now and urge you all to do the same. If this really is the one chance we have to either bring it over or not, I think a lot of you would agree it is worth putting effort into. Get your friends to call in and request it, keep up calling yourselves. If this could be two weeks worth of work for years of arcade IIDX availability, then let's push for it. I'm cross-posting the contact info.

Quote:
Ways to contact Dave & Busters:

1) Call or mail corporate headquarters
-If you're only going to go for one of these, this is the way to go. If you call, ask for the Vice President and if he's not in, leave him a voicemail.

Dave & Buster's World Headquarters
2481 Manana Drive
Dallas, TX 75220
214-357-9588

2) Call or mail your local Dave & Busters

For a list, head to Dave & Busters :: Local Information Page

3) Head in and ask for a manager at your local Dave & Busters

Head in and ask to speak to (a/the) manager at your local Dave & Busters location(s). You can see the lead manager at the locations page linked above.

Whichever route you go, give your (actual) name and location. Politely state that you are a big fan of IIDX GOLD which Konami/Betson (maker of Dance Dance Revolution) is selling. Bring to their attention an estimate of how much money or how many times a week you would head in to play it. Tell them how many friends you have that feel the same way. Say that the theme would fit their establishments nicely and that it would get a lot of casual play from an adult audience. Suggest that the series be added to D&B locations around the country. Throw in whatever you have additionally. Make sure to be polite and stress how big of a deal it would be to the community as a whole. I would suggest politely (once every few days) spamming all of these paths. The more calls and people they get asking them to get it, the more interest they directly see, and the more likely they are to get GOLD.

I would recommend talking to Golfland, because I know they are interested in IIDX GOLD. I would of course obviously recommend more that Betson offer upgrade kits, because that will open a lot of arcades to buying IIDX GOLD, and quite possibly make them more money than if they stuck to selling machines only. A lot of arcades will not get it solely on the fact that they already have a machine.

The problem is, the handful of arcade machines already here in the states, arent supposed to be here. so Konami cant come out and say that the machines are already here.

I think people should advertise the idea of "beatmania IIDX GOLD in the US" more heavily, especially where Konami is reaching a milestone where the US might soon see IIDX machines around the states. I personally don't see a lot of "WTF" stuff around the net or around town, and I think that's the reason why Konami hasn't reach it's "quota" amount. I'll try to think of ways to convince many, different people that IIDX is thing we need here in the US.

Either that, I don't really have much to say about this situation. It seems to me that our options are getting scacre by the minute as we lose our chance to receive the machines in the US.

Hi I know an arcade that would like to buy a IIDX machine, and I have been trying to call Betson for the past week trying to know where to put in an order. Can anyone PLEASE give me information on how to order one? Thank you.

Dark does bring up a point actually, when I was starting with D&B I called Betson to get exact ordering info. and was told that they would not be selling it due to lack of interest. I assumed it was someone that didn't really know what they were talking about, but if D&B called the Betson ordering number and got the same guy that wouldn't really work out. Could you give us a number or e-mail to contact Betson at to order?
