But more importantly, the thing's going back because the backlight bleeding is horrible.
So basically, I'm thinking about jumping ship and going with a Sharp, but does anyone know how the LC-42D85U is? Or perhaps how good Sony's 40W4100 is? Both in terms of input lag and picture quality. Because the Samsung does look really good aside from those issues, so I don't want to take too much of a step back.
Edit: How did I miss this? I'm looking at Panasonic's 42PZ85U and it looks perfect. I'm going to check it out tomorrow. | i have that sony.. well the 40" model. anyways, it also has that weird problem with the note scroll. i'm using component. no lag but the weird notes scrolling makes it very difficult to play. i don't use it for beatmania.

After a year I still enjoy this TV. I use it for everything - PC, Wii, PS2, PS3, and the RROD'd 360. It's not ideally suited for PC use -- as far as I know, no special video card drivers or utilities will adjust for the 'offset' pixels -- but I run it anyway, and it looks acceptable. Hopefully in a year or so, when I get back to the states I'll add a plasma for gaming.
I'm impressed with the improvements in display speed and quality in the past year. Finally, more engineers have realized that we don't want to be forced to use blur filters and laggy image effects inside our TVs. We want displays that can plot data accurately and immediately. Leave the fancy smoothing to the media player / source.

From the multiple people that I've heard from that have one of these sets, all of them say it's perfect. In fact, it's so good that AI in SoCal bought one to replace their monitor on their IIDX machine and everyone loves it. Plus, it does 1080p so yeah, pretty much the perfect HDTV.

Plus, were it to happen at all, it'll go away after a while of watching some non static images (IE, watching a TV show).

Judging by the vids that I saw of that TV in action, I would definitely recommend it over the Sharp Aquos. However, if you don't have 42" of space to spare, then by all means pick the Aquos.

That and green phosphor lag is dramatically reduced as well compared to previous generations of plasma TVs.
Likewise though, the lowest you'll see on plasma is not lower than 40 inch (or 42 i the case of Panasonic). In that case, that's where Sharp Aquos comes in.
Either way: Your best bets (atm) would be Plasma (preferably Panasonic Viera G10 or above and Pioneer Kuro plasma) or Sharp Aquos LCD (I wanted to suggest Sony and Samsung as their S-PVA panels are the best yet their I-P conversion hardware & software still leaves to be desired).
P.S.
Btw, what are the connections are available for BM IIDX machines? Composite, component, DVI, VGA, PC (D-Sub), others???
