The only reason I ask is because my friend has an LG 40~50" whoknowswhat model and I've always meant to ask whether anyone knew whether there was a definitive way to know if a particular brand has lag or not. Yes, I have bothered to read the thread but honestly, it's all helter-skelter and I have a poor memory so I'd be damned to remember. I remember playing CS DD through the TV's own speakers and I needed like -4 and it wasn't perfect at all when I tried. Also the display was godawful.
Guess I need to lrn2TV. | |

I have seen some monitors in newegg.com that support component inputs for less than $300, so you might wanna look there.

It goes black if you put RGB so I am assuming that RGB is VGA output...
i dunno...
but I use Component cable for my PS2

Marketplace Rating: 0 | Has anyone been able to test the new Sharp LE600 and LE700 ? I'm really thinking about getting one in the coming months and I'd really hate to have a laggy TV...
Also, is the lag reduced when you use a digital output ? I mean when you plug your PS2 into your TV, the TV has to convert from analog to digital, de-interlace, resize, and then display the picture...
If you plug a X360 via hdmi it just has to display the 1080p picture directly, so it should lag less.
If I'm correct, then maybe an hypothetical "next gen" IIDX will fix part of the problem =)

They make LCD TVs right?
If so, do they have 0 Lag? Good for IIDX?
How much would a 30-40 inch one cost?
Don't care if its hi-def, I just want a nice widescreen, crisp display, and NO LAG.
OR
Should I just get a widescreen CRT? Are they cheaper?

Anything HD will have at least a little bit of lag from upscaling, unless you can find an HD CRT that displays in 480i as a native resolution. All LCD TVs lag. Some so little that it doesn't matter so much, some are unplayable. I think a 30-40 inch LCD will be quite expensive, probably $700-1200. I'm not sure which ones have the least lag but there's got to be a list of the good ones somewhere lol. I have a Sony Bravia and the timing is nearly perfect (aka I can adjust almost instantly) on -2.
