Marketplace Rating: 5 | I figured I try the Sharp 42D64U for myself. There is definitely a lag, but its very very low. On Distorted and Gold adjusting it by 1 interval (I forgot in which direction) fixes it.
On another note, maybe its because I'm so used to plasma but I really don't think the picture quality is overly impressive (at least for IIDX). The home version was meant to be played on a CRT.

Marketplace Rating: 5 | My mistake. I looked at his video again, and noticed he used AV game mode instead of the traditional "gameplay mode". I tried it again in Distorted, and it works like a charm. My scores carried over from the CRT I was using before. I'll test it out someone before I give an official "co sign"

Granted, it sucks that Sharp doesn't have an equivalent version of this outside USA.
Now that I mention it, it appears that (in our region) there is no LCD TV that can at least work well (or at least sufficient enough) for BM IIDX via PS2 at the moment.
Sigh, I don't know how long we'll have to wait for it to happen.
P.S. Plasmas work well in this department...............but they are generally power hogs.
Though Panasonic (and I think Pioneer) is creating Plasma TVs that have 10 lumens per watt as well as a few power-saving technologies.
But that won't happen until after year 2010

Marketplace Rating: 5 | I tested a few other bemani games out and I had to do no timing adjustments at all. I can officially cosign the Sharp LC-42D64U. I heard good things from a Panasonic model as well. One thing though, IIDX doesn't look all that great on it. It doesn't display 480i all that well (as with most HDTVs). My recommendation is to actually stick with a CRT due to the crisper and more vibrant visuals. If you must use an LCD look into Sharp and Panasonic models.

Thanks again for this, I've been looking to upgrade my 26" Vizio for a larger screen, and I was almost going to get the Philips 42" at Walmart since my bro has it, and it's contrast ratio is really nice, but with this development, I'm prolly going to get his Sharp beast now.

With in the week I'll test out the older styles (3rd- 8th) to see how they fair.

In any case, I do have another TV that I can probably recommend.
This one is from Syntax (makers of the Olevia TV)
These TVs have been mentioned by many AVSforum.com people as a top-notch HDTV that can display SD content really well.
Of course though, if you're not happy with a TV from a Taiwanese company, then this may not be for you (though the company has been improving its products recently).
You might wanna give it a try if you'd like

That means, on the normal 0 setting, you will most likely get the same grade (e.g AAA) or a slight letter drop, but see a somewhat noticeable difference in your score as well as flashing great counting. Despite this, 9th Style - Red are still very playable. Overall, I'm sorry to say that there is lag on the Sharp LC42D64U but still recommend it as a great option for bemani players.

That's a hell of a deal for a lagless HDTV for music games.

P.S. Hey Riku, have you watched any HD movies on it yet or anything? How's the contrast ratio?

Marketplace Rating: 5 | I watched some PS3 demos but I haven't popped in a blu ray yet. The picture is superb. Standard Def looks awesome as well. I watched the entire season 5 of scrubs fascinated by the picture quality. I'll try to post some IIDX pics on the TV when I get a chance.
On another note its seems that 3rd - 8th style plays the same as the later versions on the TV. After going to AI this past weedend, I wanna say the TV lag is between 0 and -1 (being closer to -1). Its still very playable and I've been tearing it up on 7th style without too much of a hassle.
