Play RED CS for about 3 hours straight and then pop in 10th CS (Oh look, an unintended Pop'n pun). See what happens.

I have a much harder time doing my best on pre-9th interfaces, especially 7th for some reason. It's really depressing actually, to get nearly as many normal greats as just greats on songs that I would probably be working on AAAing if it were on a newer interface. It often keeps me from truly enjoying the songs in those games. Quote: |

I started on 9th and I didn't have much trouble progressing. I personally find the progression curve to be way way nastier once you reach the 10s-12s level than when you first start. The time it took me to go from 9s to 11s is about equal to the time it took me to go from start to 9s, and I'm sure it'll take at least that long again to reach the level of the hardest 12s.
But anyway Dog$ basically answered this thread in it's entirety back on page 1: Quote: |

Did you mean that you have to select a different play mode to access the Beginner difficulty/charts? | The Beginner difficulty is derived from the Beginner mode in the Japanese IIDX games. The seperate mode may feel a bit odd if your first version is the US one, but it is pretty much the same with a bit of training tips (in Japanese of course). It's mostly there to get you used to reading the notes, but once you get comfortable with that, it is best to go to Light7 as soon as possible and never look back. (Honestly, I only played about a dozen songs in Beatmania US before I got fed up with the hand holding and moved on to L7. That was the last time I felt good about my skill level in the game. )

Too bad the same thing is happening right now. I can't seem to do anything better than 8's. I'm close to a few 9's though (OML 7k Quasar 7k).

Try passing Rage Against the Usual [a] on Hard and then come back and talk.
Oh, and RED has awesome music, GTFO.

RED has a lot of Euro-crap, HS has tons and tons of varied, amazing music. I don't really care to pass 12s on hard, I'm not up to that level yet, but I've passed RAU [a] on an emulator before, that's much more than most of the songs on HS, like Captivate Jouka and songs with lots of chords rape me on emulators. RAU [a], you can completely ignore the hard part and still clear the song with 100% <_<

I just got past the begginer dificulty and am Halfway through normal but i think its kinda hard to learn...
Also, Is there any other beatmania game that can run on a US PS2 besides the one i have?

isostrife, the nice thing about the BMUS controller is that we can use it with the JP versions as well.
As for myself, planning to spend on Swap Magic and a cheap copy of 9th style (I'd have to pay double to buy any of the styles from 8th to Red)

Now. when i play 10th and switch to 8th ... i don't see/feel a difference in timing... i think i really have to stop the drugs

CONSTANT SPEED MODS. Instead of HS 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, and 5.0 which actually mean 1.5x, 2.0x, 2.25x, 2.5x, 2.75x, 3.0x, 3.25x, 3.5x, 3.75x and 4.0x why don't we just have something like...
1 - 200
2 - 300
3 - 400
4 - 450
5 - 500
6 - 550
7 - 575
8 - 600
And Sudden+ maybe.
Isn't this how GF/DM speeds work?
