1. Use training and play the part you suck at ALOT at very slow speeds then gradually speed it up as you get better at it
2. Try and play songs one level up from what you can pass the go back
3. Watch tatsujin videos and try and copy their play style (it feels weird at first but keep on doing it till it feels natural)
4.Use as may fingers as possible(and use them on as much buttons as possible)
5. Autoplay songs and listen to the timing of the notes
6. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE | |

I've also found that copying other players techniques only set me back. I improved a lot more when i stopped focusing on that and just played my own way. Well, it is good to try and look at other players styles and get ideas from them, but don't try and match their playstyle, try to integrate stuff into your own.
I dunno my best suggestion is to just play a lot :P It's a bullshit answer but it really is the only thing that really helps.

this helps alot especially if you are on 10s and trying to read complex chords. or stream-chords.

Its strange, I know. | I hear this more than anything else regarding improving, and I find the same thing to be true for myself.
So there you have it, if you want to get better then stop playing

I also agree with M335h73r, playing very slow on training mode does more bad than good. The best way to pass anything is to play it over and over and over again until your muscle reflex takes over the thinking process. Autoplay helps too, especially for the tricky patterns pre-9th style IIDX had.

I mean... Last time I played IIDX on an arcade, I can only do 4-5 level songs...
After one month of not playing, I can now do some level 6s....
I've only played IIDX 4 months ago and it's only on arcade and I don't go there everyday...

But after taking a very long break (like what you guys have been saying), I've improved a lot...I can pass some 8's now and lots of 7's. My scores have improved, and my timing is better.
Maybe it's just CS GOLD, or i dunno, but taking long breaks do help! I'm like almost ready to advance to HYPER mode!

I suck, I can only play 6-7 Stars on Normal, but with the addition of GOLD, I can beat some 8's!
I don't play MapleStory anymore, gave my roots26 account away...
I have all 6 Roots26 Shirts.

I'm like almost ready to advance to HYPER mode! | maybe not that long... i was talking about like a week or two. but it seems to work for you keep on improoving. its scary how you can actually tell when your improoving ever so slightly.
like today i passed innocent walls on 7k. something i thought i would not be able to do for like another month... its funny i was doing i think 9th dan well it was the one with innocent walls [a] and i passed it with a 63 % clear rate and like 24 % groove bar rate. so i tried 7k and just barely passed it XD
long story short try playing harder songs more offten XD

I think it's true, because once my DAO stopped working for a week, got a new part, and when I started playing again, I noticed I could get AA's easier on H (8-10) (I'm playing ACS for 2 months now).
