well i'v been looking around lattly board and such and a came across a game called DJ Max for the PSP i do have a PSP so i thought i should get it. but then a came across BBR a flash game much like to BeatMania..well almost identical XD
eventualy i found BeatMania IIDX and i just wanted that to be the one i play
does it come with a IIDX Arcade Controller? (Its going for 65 bucks on Play Asia so it probly is <.<)
And is it also on the PC? (as i would prefer PC due to increasted visuals on my LCD XD)

If you're just buying the game, you won't get a controller with it. You'd have to buy that separately. I'm pretty sure by " ARCADE CONTROLLER", you mean the regular Konami official one; you'd be dreaming to get an Arcade Style Controller for $65 XD
Official IIDX isn't on PC, but you can get simulators for use with simfiles. Someone else can help you out with this, I don't know anything about it... >.<
Also, playing IIDX on an LCD will have latency making it hard to play, you'd have to get IIDX12: Happy Sky or later so you can adjust the timing.

Google :]
If you want to start good, get a controller from Welcome To DJDAO Bemania Arcade Style Controller Website. It all started with Dj Max Portable for me, then discovered IIDX. When I finally decided on getting the games, I went for one of the DAO con's right away.

i have been playing BBR witch is i guess a flash version of IIDX i have also looked in to pop'n but IIDX seems the better investment.
also the switch magic seems like a good idia i thought i was going to have to get a mod-chip XD
i havn't touched my PS2 in almost a year. been on my PC alot o.O buti h ave the first PS2 release modal so should work fine
so i'll grab myself a copy of IIDX 12 or any one upto 16 and then maybe grab a konami controller for it
but would like to know how i can get a copy working on the PC... i'll se if their are any active guides on these forums.

I've been using Swap Magic for years, and it's never failed me. Although, the disks seem to be very weak and do get a bit scratched from all the switches, I've gone through a few copies myself.
I don't think there's any way to get PS2 IIDX to work well on PC..

An Arcade Style Controller would be great but they're hundreds of dollars.
And I KNOW you'll want to buy the Japanese version right away. But do yourself a favor. Get the US version. it's got a MUCH smoother learning curve until you get into 5's and 6's. I was almost able to beat a 7
or two before I got RED, and now I have 8th to 14th Style and 3rd. So there's that piece of advice.
You cannot, however, get beatmania on your PC. Just use your PS2.
So-
1. beatmania US
2. AMERICAN IIDX controller (I cannot emphasize that the USA release controller is much better than a JController)
3. Swap Magic and Slide Tool combo
And then you'll eventually want to get a Japanese PS2 (I got one hahaha) and a DJ DAO. Oh, and more releases of beatmania.
But also, do NOT bulk buy!!!! Don't buy like 3-4 styles at once. If you want an easy learning curve, I found that each style has different songs that will develope different skills (obviously) but you have to play and play and play the shit out of each style to really improve. If you bulk buy games, you won't really get that intimate liking of each of those games. I still play 9th all the time because I know all of those songs by heart and if you keep jumping back and forth between games you won't get that.
That is, just, my opinion.

Get the beatmania US bundle, you can find it pretty easy. Someone was selling it in the marketplace on this forum but I snatched it up, sorry. >_>;
Anyway, for a decent price you'll get a good controller and a good [well, that can be disputed], basic game to learn on. If anything it'll let you know if you really wanna start playing and investing in a modded PS2 and JP Styles. | |

Any specific reasons? I'm just curious because I wish to bust out some Swap Magic + ANY style + JKOC for my birthday in July, and I'd like to hear some people's reasoning behind the purchase of different styles.

I agree with Chemist and Paradox. Shoot for the US version it's the best bet for beginners.
