Total Tokens: 178.79 Donate Tokens | Need a little help with a beat mania present Hi guys. Nice place you got here . I could do with some help from anyone that can as im trying to replicate a beat mania arcade machine (kind of)
Heres my mission. My girlfriend used to play beat mania in Port a pi shopping centre (mallorca spain) She played it every day religiously growing up. we went there (from uk) last year and i couldnt drag her away from it. So its her birthday in a month and i want to give her beat mania lol. (i know geek rofl)
so im hoping to make a fold out beat mania games console based on the ps1. Ive just baught this Amazon.co.uk: Beatmania Including Turntable Controller.: PC & Video Games
now im going to buy an old playstation and link it up to this controller. Ill need to hack the controller so the buttons are (arcade) ones. But i really want to get this right and could do with some help. can anyone help me out with these questions.
- Where can i get some buttons?
- Does anyone have a picture of the machines button layout so i can replicate it?
- Does anyone have a picture of the machine so i can replicate the look?
- does anyone know if ive baught the right copy? i mean i understand theres different version.
- Ill also need another turn table will 2 tables work with the ps1 ?>
i really need some help here guys so please help me shed some light on exactly what and how i need to do things. I will offer as much info as i can but its limited.
the machine was black and blue.
it had 2 turntables
i think it had2 or 3 blue buttons. (not sure how they were laid out)
i think it had 2 white oblong type buttons.
thanks in advance for anyone that helps me out and r3p3ct to your fanship

I would go with buying a US bundle, maybe two if you want to controllers (you can find them for cheap if you can find a place that still sells it, However, I dont think you live in the U.S seeing you were on a uk website, so either a U.S. bundle, or Japanese controller would work).
next you are going to have to worry about playing japanese games on your PS2. You will need swap magic, or some other type of swap disc that will allow you to play imports.
you were also talking about the buttons on a beatmania machine. Well if you find those parts they are VERY expensive if I remember correctly. they are called Sanwa buttons, and I heard they cost $40 for one button, so getting a normal controller will do you a lot better, as stated before.
Hope I helped a bit.
Plus trust me, you wont want the old 5 key games, you will want IIDX, the newer games that have 7 keys and a lot more music.
You can find most of the games on playasia... Buy Video Games for Consoles and PC - From Japan, Korea and other Regions! - Play-Asia.com
A word of warning, and I am not sure if you have read this correctly but you WILL NEED a swap disc (swap magic), or a japanese PS2.

any more advice is greatly appreciated thanks guys. | If you go to HimeyaShop.com or Buy Video Games for Consoles and PC - From Japan, Korea and other Regions! - Play-Asia.com and search "IIDX" you should come up with some PS2 IIDX games. Seeing as how there are various games on the market now, I would recommend you read this: Comprehensive IIDX FAQ + Controller Tutorials

I really don't think the PAL->NTSC Converter is needed at all. It'd be a lot easier if you just buy a cheap CRT that supports NTSC, or if you're using an LCD it'll support it perfectly.
My PS2 going straight into my old Trinitron works perfectly.

My biggest problem is getting hold of a half decent controller. I totally agree i need to get a jap export or one from the states. I just cannot for the life of me find one available. Play asia has sold out so has every shop online i can find. Also everyone on ebay in the states will not ship to UK regardless of how much i offer them. *sigh*
Guys id REALLY APPRECIATE SOME HELP GETTING A CONTROLLER. Times running out so if uv got any ideas id appreciate it. On a side note i dont supose anyone knows what version the beatmania machine in
"port a pi" shopping centre
palma

I know theres probably no chance but i did notice a dead "where to find" beatmania machines thread and a spanish section......

ty in advance | there are a few controllers up on ebay. beatmania controller, Video Games, beatmania items on eBay.com
i've also seen some people selling bundles of ps2 stuff on craigslist.com that include beatmania US version, but you may have to search around different locations. i.e., one guy in austin, tx is selling a ps2 with beatmania iidx US with controller and 3 other games for $120. that isn't too bad, considering.
my friend was also lucky to find a used US controller at a local used game store for $35, no game. he bought it on the spot. i don't think that's gonna be a common find though.
edit, just noticed that you said no one will ship to spain =c
sorry

in regards to which beatmania machine they have in that shopping center, i searched around on ebay and found this: Porto Pi in Palma, Mallorca (Majorca)
looks like it's easier found as "porto pi". you can try contacting them and asking what version they have.

I do believe they ship to the UK.
Also If you are in desperate need You may want to buy one there fast, I dont think they carry that many (seeing as other items run out pretty fast).
