Thumbs down Not sure...

Hi guys! I just made the jump to beatmania, and must say it pwns. Been playing DM, GF, and DDR for years, and wanted to try IIDX. Since my local (and not-so-local) arcades don't have any IIDX machines, i had to go with beamaniaUS. Must say thet it's quite harder than anything else, but i really do like it. But i'm not really sure what to do... Is it really worth to mod the ps2 and buy IIDX imports, or just stick with a ps2 -> usb adaptor and play SSRMax on my comp? If i mod the ps2, where should i buy the game(s)? Which one should i try first? I know it's alot of questions, but i've been asking myself for quite a bit, and i'm really not sure what to do...

Lots of questions comin' from an IIDX noob, sorry!

Only you can say no to sims.

Honestly, if you're comfy with just playing sims and not buying anything, all the power to you. Meanwhile, if you honestly want to get good at IIDX, you might have to spend some money and at least get more of the console stuff.

The rest of your questions are answered in the FAQ above.

And just a quick explanation as to why that is: simulations tend to lack the precise timing that the actual titles have, so most of the challenge (and thus what you can learn from them) is negated.

Also you have to deal with controller adaptor lag which is almost inescapable.
I used to play SSRMAX until I got the imports and I never went back to simulation.

Check out the Readme/FAQ thread at the top, that'll answer a lot of your questions. To reiterate, though, avoid sims because their timing is generally loose and won't make you any better at IIDX than Stepmania would.
