Cleaning up under the turntable/adding extra or less padding for smoother operation:
After this, just pop the cap right back on top, it is attached with double sided tape so you should be able to do this a few times before the tape needs replacing.

To remove the microswitch assembly:
To replace the microswitch:
Take note of how you removed the microswitch, because that is how you put in a new on, a picture is unneeded.
*note: if you want to replace the led: just pull it out (that is, the led + the red thingy underneath) and put in a new one, please note the polarity. (make sure that the little metal thingy inside the led is faced in the same direction as in the other buttons)
To remove and clean the button:
On the inside, just pop the microswitch assembly right back into the button, you'll have to keep the controller on its side for this. Make sure the button works properly afterwards.
Now, just screw the bottom back on, you won't need a picture for that :p

In the middle of the controller, in between the turntable and the buttons, there is a screw which goes nowhere, you can pick it out with your finger. To make sure you don't lose it: pop off the bottom of the controller and stick a piece of foam onto the end of it. (You can use the stuff the controller came packed in)
A polished rimjob:
Most turntable rims are spotty and overall unshiny, you can pop off the turntable and clean the metal with abrasive cream. This will make it much smoother and shinier.
NOTE: Take care that none of the cream gets under the plastic of the rim. If this DOES happen you will have to open up the bottom of the controller and unscrew the whole turntable assembly. It is quite easy but is a hassle to do.
Installing a turntable misfire upgrade kit: HERE is a video that shows the installation process of one.

I noted how dao improved the font on the TT top, the small texts "controller for ps2 and pc" and "the ultimate system beatmania deluxe version".

if you buy a dao controller you have to realize this is practically arcade equipment. with that in mind don't get angry when something eventually breaks or stops working. you have to maintain and take care of it as well as you can. seriously, what arcade haven't you gone to that has broken down machines. i have had my RE for a year and some change now and it is still makin me a happy IIDXer
the only thing for me is that i'll eventually grab one of the TT misfire upgrade kits since i was an early purchaser and have the old TT mechanic. so a guide on that would be pretty sweet.

Arcade equipment doesn't imply unreliability by default. If anything, most arcade stuff is probably made extra sturdy to withstand the masses. Yes, that's why arcade machines are often in various states of disrepair -- because they've got all manner of clientèle banging on them, and abusing them day after day.
If I'm the only one using my DJ Dao controller, and I don't subject it to overly harsh punishment, I have a right to expect it to continue working without any major problems for quite some time. And so far, with my PE and Pop'n ASC, I'm glad to say that has been the case.

Mangojoyride: I will try to find you a tutorial on how to install it, but it is indeed just replacing a chip in a socket.
Update 2: Mangojoyride: I found a video for you.
