If you ever want to play one hand, then you just have to stick through the pain, even if there are walls that seem impossible.

As Cstar said, the more fingers you have available to use, the better and more accurate you will be.

On a somewhat related note, I find it kind of weird, but I scratch with either my pinky or middle finger, rarely with my ring finger and almost never with my index or thumb.

i'd encourage u practice using your Thumbs coz it is very handy esepcially when doing scales. When you arek eeping a beat with your left hand, and need to manouvre abit with your right hand, that is when your thumb will be very useful.
i'd suggest Romeo & Juliet as a starting place for that one.

This is only, however, for my left hand since like others its' completely retarded when it comes to IIDX. I'm trying to play 14keys, but it's just so hard when my right hand can do the notes fine then my groove gauge drops once something remotely complex drops on the left.

as for me i play two handed
but quite honestly it seems like 2 handing seems to be the way to go to get good at iidx... i'd say that one handing has its limits to how well you can do in the game but two handing is just more profiecient way of playing

Just like there are 2-Handed play walls, there are 1-Handed play walls as well. It usually takes longer to get good at playing one handed than playing two handed. I also agree that 2-Handed play was what Konami was aiming for in IIDX...dunno about I/III though. LISU was obviously impressive enough for Konami to video him exclusively....one handing most of (optionally) V[A] on NORMAL SPEED is just too godly for me to even fathom achieving.....and that was done years ago! XD

But I do pinky scratch, and occasionally use my other pinky for the keys, and I have never figured out why it is hard for some people to pinky scratch, it just came sorta naturally to me.
