Just to add to the pianist advantage conversation:
I think the biggest hurdle for any individual when starting IIDX, is button placement and note reading. These two things have nothing to do with playing the piano (well, note reading, but in a completely different sense), and so I suspect, at least initially, most players would start at a fairly even level. However, once these IIDXentricities have been handled even slightly, then I'd say the pianist has the edge. I've been playing the piano since I was around 6 years old, and I play two handed. I've played one handed maybe 20ish times (as in 20 songs), and I can pass level 6 7key songs. I've been playing IIDX for around 8 months.
I dunno, I could be wrong, maybe thats not even a quick learning curve for one hand, but I suspect it is. And if I didn't have strong fingers and wrists, there's no way in hell I'd be passing those songs one handed. Which = piano.
I'm not sure what I'm talking about anymore, or what my point was .... so ummmmm...
Ciao
