Default The PCB of a US controller

Okay so recently, my friend lent me his US BM controller because he's not gonna play anymore. I'm gonna use this controller to make another arcade style light up controller, but there was something I was wondering about.

When I took a look at the PCB, it looked a lot different from the Japanese controller. The soldering points were in all the familiar places as the Japanese one, but I was just curious if the wiring is the same as the Japanese one.

I already have a diagram to use for a Japanese controller, but I'm wondering if it's the same as the U.S. one. Does anyone know?

Yup, the same. And it'd be easier if you just cut the wires going to the two connectors than soldering to the PCB.

..? Elaborate a little more, please? I've only known to solder to the PCB.

have you opened your controller? he is talking about extending the wire that connect to the key panel and just working off of those... eliminating the need for soldering.

I will take pics and show you if you need me too

Could this be done for making a pop'n controller? If so I think I just came...except for I still would have to purchase/find a hole saw just to be able to make the correct holes.

Yup, it's the easiest way by far.

Then you get yourself one of these with more terminals, and attach each of the coloured PCB wired to a terminal each. Then you dont have to worry about any soldering or about pulling a wire out where ever while your building the rest up.

Interesting... I'll have to look into that.

Well here's something new I stumbled upon.

The reason my friend gave me his US controller for free was because his 1 button stopped working. I just tested the controller myself and confirmed that it wasn't working, but everything else was fine.

I was wondering if I connected a key to the 1 button, will it work..?

Just try and short out the button contacts using a paper clip or something, rather than building the whole thing and finding it still doesn't work, it may just be the little squishy rubber thing not working. Either that or one of the wires going to the keypanel connector (that I mentioned cutting) may have come loose or broken.
