Marketplace Rating: 0 | Pity party for usamablackbelt... Well, I've been playing for about a year now, and I've reached a wall.
I can only clear either half, or none of the flashing whatevers on any style 7-11 on 7Key. I took the advice of someone and started working on Anothers...3 months ago. I've been at the same place of acheivement for 3 months, and it's starting to get to me. I want to be able to pass harder songs. Do you guys have any tips besides (more) practicing? I play right side, two handed, with my ring finger always hitting the 1 key (assuming the 1-2-3-4-5-6-7 key setup). Am I missing some huge universal secret or something?
EDIT: also, I play about 1-2 hours a day.

If you want to clear more hard songs, don't waste time playing L7 songs and what not (Basically any song that you have an A or higher on). All you should be doing EVERY time you play is hard songs. That's what I did and it worked out decently for me. Also try training mode on the sections that you screw up.
Oh, and if there are songs that have absolutely insane patterns that you have a hard time reading, try looking for recognizable patterns in the hard measures. Once you see the recognizable patterns you can use them as markers to break down hard parts of songs. You look for the marker (the recognizable pattern), comprehend/execute the pattern, do the peripheral notes (Not part of the recognizable pattern), and then look for the next recognizable pattern). This is what I did to clear Quasar[A]. This method has really helped me to break down complex measures into easy to understand combinations.

Sakura
Rainbow Flyer
A
B4U
Colors
G2
Kakumei
Stoic
The Safari
5PM Eternal
Abyss THR
Logic Board
Make a Difference
Moon Child
One or Eight
Checking You Out
Scorpion Fire
Genocide
AA
gigadelic
1st Samurai
Innocent Walls
Max 300
No 13
rainbow rainbow
just to list a few.
On some of them, I practice the hell out of the ends, but I still don't get them. Others of them (you'll know which ones they are) just have long streams with chords of 3+. Some just get really 2 note heavy.

Marketplace Rating: 1 | Uh...that doesn't really help. Like I said, you have to do this gradually. Forget about most of the songs on there that you don't even have a chance on. ONLY focus on the ones that you do the best on/are the closest on passing. Which songs are those?

Set a goal for yourself to only play 1-3 stars and get nothing but AAA's or perfect combos on all songs before moving to 4-5 stars, wherein you aim for AAA's, but if you get a full combo thats fine, then move onto 6-7 stars and shoot for AA's.
Consistently working on your timing will allow you to score overall better on the song and will allow you to read complex patterns in the long run. Also, learning how to combo will allow to save your butt when the songs and stuff get too hard for you to pass right now.
Start from the basics, give the hard stuff a rest, and come back when you are really ready for it.

As in which method. The easy stuff, or the hard stuff?

If all else fails, go to training mode or use random. That's what I did, and right afterwards I tackled murmur twins [a] and passed it on my second time after playing for 4 and a half months.

Marketplace Rating: 1 | If he uses random Kakumei should be a breeze (If all he cares about is getting more clears on hard songs, then I don't think he'll care about using random).
