And when you can react to strange chords, patterns, and scales faster, I think that your timing will get better. But other people say that its cheating to use it because it affects the note chart. I just don't like seeing the same chart over and over, so I use random.

Marketplace Rating: 1 | For the record, I don't use random and I'd like to think that I can respond and read notes on the fly. Random might help you read notes on the fly faster, but that certainly doesn't mean that you can't do it without random, and it doesn't necessarily mean that it's going to take you a long time without random.
Have you ever tried using random? I say give it a shot just to make sure you feel that way over getting higher scores.

Brazoliange: If you think One or Eight is haeder than A, then you're loco. I've beaten that song about 5 times, and A only once.

Aside from that, use Random, it helps.
Also, to original poster, seriously don't frustrate yourself with hard stuff that you can't pass. Go back to easier stuff, score WELL, get high scores, do your best, if the record breaks don't try to fix it, and THEN, do harder stuff progressively.

Marketplace Rating: 7 | The larger point of Random when you're learning how to play isn't necessarily to up your reaction time, it's to get you associated with patterns you wouldn't normally see. In turn, that helps your recognition and your finger strength, as you're more likely to put more force into your key presses if you're sight reading.
After that, Random is there to help give you patterns that are more playable. Kill off the messy piano rolls, take away the 1-2-1-2 jackhammers, and that sort of thing.
I spent over 2 years swearing that I would never use Random because I didn't think it was how the game was "meant to be played", but you're going to hit a plateau at some point, and learning to use Random is going to be necessary in getting past it.

Marketplace Rating: 0 | Okay, so tonight, I'll give Random a try.
I basically didn't want to use it for the same reason others didn't. I thought it would make the song easier than it was supposed to be. But I can see your reasoning, I guess. I'll actually go try it tonight. I'll let you guys know how I do.
EDIT: Okay, tried it out. I'm assuming it's supposed to make you worse on every song (except for you, Kakumei). So then, do I just whore out Random for like, 2 weeks, then go back to normal?

Sometimes using random with mirror helps.

Oh wait. Uhm, you'll probably take a liking to random once you start getting good charts and AAA'ing songs you will never AAA otherwise.

But yeah, I've been getting crappy charts with 1+2 and 6+7 and things like that.
It's pretty lame... | |

Hold start and/or select, and select continue. Keep trying til you get a decent chart.
