Left hand 1,2 (1-left thumb 2-left index)
Right hand 3,4,5,6,7 (3-right index 4-right middle 5,6-right ring 7-right pinky)
I'm trying to switch to.....
Left hand 1,2,3 ( I HAVE NO IDEA!!!!)
Right hand 4,5,6,7 ( 4-right index 5-right thumb 6-right middle 7-right ring)
Currently working on it any tips for left hand? Everything seems unnatural when I need to scratch >:

Really makes 5, 6, 7-heavy charts a chore covering all three of those keys with just your ring and pinky, doesn't it?
Furthermore, I tried switching to your ideal set-up and just couldn't make the transition. (By the way, for the left hand, it would be 1-Thumb, 2-Middle, 3-Index, although you'll need to leave key 3 to your right hand during scratch parts unless you have much bigger hands than me.)
I think my current configuration is really hurting me though on harder songs with lots of right-side notes.

Yeah I guess your way is what I'm gonna have to do. Before I was stuck on 7's and 8's. I could pass DUE TOMORROW one day in my life but never again. I need to change now or never.

Until I can read 2p noticing I can use my left hand for the bass drum and put my right hand to better use on the tt like all Japanese players.

AMIRITE?
The main reason most professional IIDX players play on the left is becuase they were hardcore 5key players. It won't magically make you play better.

Srsly though, It's obvious that copying the Japanese player's techique is going to make you better than before.

I just haven't gotten around to caring too much to change style. I got over my 7* wall and I can do 8's and almost 9's. So I mean, so far my style's doing fine for me. Eventually I'll have to learn to use my left thumb on instinct rather than boredom.

The only thing I know is that when I use a thumb it's left thumb (for 2P side) for 3..trying to get it for 5 or use right thumb. Everything else is dependent. Sometimes I'll do 1+2 with one finger...or any of those chords that are next to one another. Other times it will be individual fingers. Depends on the song and how well adjusted I am.
