Default ps2 beatmania iidx on ps3

Would i be able to import beatmania iidx games and play them on a us ps3? I don't want to go through the trouble of purchasing a Japanese ps2.

I hope you have a ps2, just get Swap Magic. No modchip required, I bet everyone here uses it. (at least most of the people)

I have a legit 90000 PS2 from Japan. I don't mod. All my games are legit as well.

I have swap magic, and a japanese PS2.

With swap magic, you are going to have to do "some" modification to the console, so you can swap though. You will need either a swap card, or tape and tissues.

You can get swap magic here...

I use the DMS4 Lite modchip, mostly because then you don't have to dink around with switching discs, you just put it in there, and it boots up.

Yup, same here. So it would appear that almost everyone on here DOESN'T use a modded PS2. =)

well uh, even if these games are played on a japanese ps3, apparently there are issues. especially true if it's not the 60gb 1st gen.

ps2 playback on ps3s are frame lagged thanks to how the ps3 handles image conversion

so even if it had no region lockout and even if you found a usb convertor for the controllers which was compatible and introduced no lag at that point you would still have lag from the ps3 itself

playing ps2 iidx on the ps3 is not and never will be a viable option

<---- Swap disc + clear blue cover+ DJ dao blue turntables=
kinda cool setup.

Although I'm about to switch to a harddrive. The less chance of scratching my disks, the better.

Speaking of Hard Drives on PS2's, how good is the compatibility with USB hard drives...

I haven't used it, but there's something called USB Advance you can use, I am unsure whether the legit disc version is still in production (I'm assuming it isn't due to HD Loader being banned or something)

You can get it off a PS2 elf website if you look in the right places though
