Default Question: What is the rationale of using RANDOM on DOUBLE PLAY

After months of thinking about it, I still couldn't understand the rationale of putting random on.

I mean you must have seen videos of EXIT doing Quasar on double (this time with no autoscratch and HARD MODE on)......but notice that random was on on all of his Quasar runs. From what I can peceive, the left hand runs leave a nasty aftertaste.

So which brings me to the question, why turn random on for double anyway???

Well, if the reason is that you've mastered the original nonrandom chart and got bored of it, I can see the usage of random..............but to make it easier (than the original nonrandom chart)??? I can't see that happening I'm afraid.

In fact, Audity/Oddity said last year that using RANDOM for double provided VIRTUALLY NO BENEFIT and proved to be a liability (instead of the assets that it tends to be for twohand single play). He even said (If I remember right) that it's way more counter-productive than LISU using random to 1-hand Innocent Walls.

Well that's that. So does anyone here have any technical explanations that could prove (or disprove?) the rationale of using random for double play???

it probably sucks for most songs but might help on some! I mean the rationale is just going to be "it makes it easier", and if it doesn't seem like it to you, then don't use it.

Neither oddity nor anyone in the USA is a top-level double player.

When you're good enough (I mean really and honestly good enough - not like single play where you kinda should start using random when you can beat 8s), random helps you in double the same way in helps in single. At least, for improvement purposes. That is to say, by playing double random, you will get better more quickly simply by exposing yourself to more weird bullshit.

I can see why it would seem like, on the short term to get a good score it's a better idea to forgo random in DP. Yet EXIT clearly used double in that Quasar A14 video. What can we assume from this? When you're that good, somehow or another, it helps.

A doubles notechart will not always have a "comfortable" chart for the hands. Just because each hand must cover 7 keys and a turntable does not give Konami an excuse to make doubles "easier." In fact, that's what makes doubles harder in a lot of the cases.

Random can cure some discomforting notecharts, such as the bullshit part in quasar 14a. But at the same time, it can make it a bigger bullshit; everything that applies to single applies to double.

Also, Random can prevent you from memorizing parts of the note charts, so you don't know what to expect and are forced to stay alert. It also prevent you from anticipating the upcoming notes before they appear on-screen, which might help with scoring because you're less likely to hit the notes too early.

I was wondering if playing doubles can help singles? Like strengtening each individual or helping your non dominant hand get better?
